In what has become an amazingly close fight for the 2015 NASCAR WMT championship, 3 drivers are at the track and preparing to fight for the 2015 title. The season started in April at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park with a Doug Coby win and has been pretty much a 3 driver show all year. Doug Coby, Ryan Preece and Woody Pitkat have won 11 of the first 14 races.
Only 2 wins by Justin Bonsignore at the Riverhead Raceway and Todd Szegedy’s lone win at he New Hampshire Motor Speedway in July broke up the party. Woody Pitkat even added a non-ponts win in the All Star Soot out at New Hampshire.
While all 3 drivers have had their ups and downs they are still standing at the end of the season when one race will decide the championship. Today all 3 drivers are separated by 4 points, just 4! All 3 control their own destiny. Coby and Preece just have to win the race and they are the titlist, Woody Pitkat must win the race and lead the most laps and he is guaranteed the title.
Oh and lets not forget, race fan and sponsor of many many modifieds and modified races Doug Dunleavy has spent all summer collecting pole award money that will be given out today. Over $12,000.00 will be handed to the pole winner of the Thompson Sunnoco World Series 150. If Sundays ace winner is also the pole winner and wins the Championship it will be a huge day all around.
So it all boils down to one race after a long 6 month season that has taken the teams across New England, Long Island, Tennessee and back to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park where it all began. Coby, Preece or Pitkat, who will be crowned your 2015 champion.
