MATT HIRSCHMAN RUNS TO THIRD CONSECUTIVE VICTORY AT LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY

-Roy Hayes Runs to Race of Champions Late Model Series Victory in CPS 40-

 North East, Pennsylvania – (June 10, 2018) – Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa., drove to his 41st career Race of Champions Series victory this past Saturday night at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa., in the Lake Erie 75 presented by Jim Moss Builders.

Hirschman took the lead from Tommy Catalano early in the event and never looked back in his first win of 2018.

“I always love coming to Lake Erie, this is one of my favorite tracks,” stated Hirschman from victory lane. “Tommy (Catalano) was strong early but we were able to get where we needed to be and use good track position. It played out in our favor tonight. I have to thank everyone involved with our team, it was a really good night for us.”

Hirschman held off a charging Patrick Emerling from Orchard Park, N.Y., and Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, N.Y., who started 16th and finished 3rd.

Scott Wylie of Blasdell, N.Y., who started second, his second consecutive front row starting position in this race, earned fourth while Randall Richards who towed from Titusville, Pa., drove from 15th to finish 5th.

Chuck Hossfeld won the overall fast time for the second consecutive race in green, white, checker qualifying.

Hossfeld, Kevin Miller, Tommy Catalano and Hirschman all won qualifying races.

Roy Hayes of Concord, N.C., came to Lake Erie and took home the victory in the season opening Race of Champions Late Model Series event presented by CPS (Center for Plastic Surgery). Hayes held of Jeric Johnson of Mooresville, N.C., to earn the victory.

“This is a big night for us,” explained Hayes, who is originally from the Erie, Pa., area. “It’s great to come back here and put our car in victory lane along with having everyone here. The car was spot on from the start of the race and we were fortunate to have everything go our way.”

Johnson ended up second with Dave Russell of Clarence, N.Y., third. Sam Fullone of North Collins, N.Y., finished fourth with Eldon King of Delevan, N.Y., rounding out the top-five.

Russell and Fullone won the qualifying races.

The results are unofficial until Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

ASPHALT MODIFIED SERIES RETURNS TO ACTION WITH LATE MODEL SERIES OPENER

-Second Harvest Food Bank Food Drive Also to Take Place with Ticket Discounts For Fans-

North East, PA – (June 4, 2018) – The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series swings back into action, while the Race of Champions Late Model Series takes to the track for the first time this season on Saturday, June 9, at the beautiful Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA, with the running of the “Lake Erie 75” presented by Jim Moss Builders for the Modifieds and the “CPS 40” for Late Models.

“This will be an exciting card of racing for the fans and will be a prelude to the 68th Annual Race of Champions Weekend that takes place at Lake Erie in late September, including the 68th Annual Race of Champions 250,” stated RoC Promoter Joe Skotnicki.

Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, NY, kicked off the Modified Series season with win at Lancaster Speedway (NY) on May 12.

“Lake Erie is an exciting track,” offered Emerling. “It has multiple grooves which makes exciting racing for the fans. We’re looking forward to it.”

On the Late Model side, veteran Late Model pilot Bob Weber of Clarence, N.Y., is looking forward to racing.

“We’ve had a long winter off and our opener saw inclement weather, so this is our start,” stated Weber. “It couldn’t come at a better track. We are really excited about kicking things off and getting going at Erie this weekend.”

Lake Erie Speedway management is offering fans a free ticket promotion if they bring a non-perishable food item(s) for the Second Harvest Food Bank on Saturday. This is a great opportunity to make a contribution to the community and offer assistance to those in need. Fans that purchase an Adult General Admission ticket to the June 9, 2018, event who bring a non-perishable donation(s) will receive a second adult General Admission and a child’s General Admission ticket for free.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is the largest nonprofit food distribution organization in northwest Pennsylvania and the only food bank in the region. Second Harvest distributes millions of pounds of grocery products each year to hundreds of nonprofit agencies that directly serve people facing hard times in 11 counties. Recipients, who receive food free of charge, include unemployed and underemployed workers, the homeless, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, families in crisis situations and children. VP RACING FUELS, HOOSIER RACING TIRE AND TDH REFRIGERATION HELP MAKE 2018 RACE OF CHAMPIONS SUPER STOCK SEASON ONE TO REMEMBER

-VP Racing Fuels and TDH Refrigeration Step Up and Continue Award Programs-

Rochester, New York (June 4, 2018) – Race of Champions Super Stock Series competitors have a sweetened pot to race for during the 2018 season thanks in part to Race of Champions marketing partners VP Racing Fuels, Hoosier Racing Tire and TDH Refrigeration.

Once again the series will race for a minimum $1,000 to win the Series point fund, with a minimum of $250 being awarded for 10th place in the final series championship standings with funding coming from Hoosier Racing Tire. In addition, VP Racing Fuels has agreed to award the top three competitors a drum of VP 110 racing fuel. The Series champion will receive the traditional Champion’s helmet decorated by Pilat Design in addition to several other traditional awards.

TDH Refrigeration will also be posting an award for the “Coolest Performance in the Hottest Races of the Season” championship award. Beginning with the Saturday, June 23rd event at Hillside Buffalo (formerly Holland Speedway) in Holland, NY, a separate race-within-the-race points championship will be kept for three special events throughout the year. Those events include the Saturday, June 23rd event at Hillside, the U.S. Open at Lancaster National Speedway in September and the Race of Champions event in September at Lake Erie Speedway.

The top three point finishers in those three races will receive an additional bonus of $300 for first, $200 for second and $100 for third. To earn and be eligible for this special award, a driver must compete in all three events.
