Former NASCAR modified series champion and Xfinity series rookie #01 Ryan Preece driving the GK Services Chevrolet was looking to qualify for his 1st Las Vegas Speedway Xfinity race . Ryan ran 23rd position in the first round of qualifying  making it into the second round where he set 20th fastest time easily making it into today’s race.

We spoke to Ryan after qualifying and he was very happy with his qualifying run today, as his goals are every week he wants  to finish the race and continuously learn. We will have a full interview with Ryan tonight.

Two drivers that did not advance into the second round. Derrike Cope #70 hit the wall on Friday and never made a lap in qualifying.  #99 Todd Peck’s crew was under the hood in the garage working on the car all morning. Whatever issues they had came back in qualifying as he was leaking fluids on the track and never got in a qualifying lap lap.

As has happened many times, #18 Kyle Busch in his NOS Energy Drink Toyota took the pole for today’s Boyd Gaming 300 at the as Vegas Motor Speedway.
