EVANS MILLS, NY – Following a successful resurrection under new ownership and management during the 2016 season, Evans Mills Speedway announced this week that they have hired Tracy Chirico to serve as the Promoter and Operations Manager for the 2017 season. Chirico comes to Evans Mills following a successful six-season stint as the Business Operations Manager at Bethel (NY) Motor Speedway.
Chirico’s involvement in short-track auto racing spans over the course of several decades, and also includes public relations work at Riverhead (NY) Raceway. While at Riverhead, she served as a reporter and Managing Editor for the LongIslandJam.com web site that was founded by present Speedway Illustrated Managing Editor J.A. Ackley prior to accepting a part-time position as the public relations coordinator at Bethel Motor Speedway in 2009. In 2011, Bethel management tapped Chirico to take over the position of full-time Business Operations Manager. In addition to handling Bethel’s PR, Chirico also managed all business operations, and spearheaded successful efforts to host the INEX Bandolero Nationals in 2013. She has also been involved in the growth of Bethel’s INEX Legends Asphalt Nationals qualifier into one of the premier events in the region, while also working with other classes to increase overall car count and participation.

“We are excited to bring Tracy aboard as a member of the Evans Mills team for the coming season,” stated General Manager Vern LaFave. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and has already dealt with the complexities of revitalizing a track, with a hands-on understanding of all of the inner workings of the business’ day-to-day operations.”

Chirico’s duties will focus primarily on building relationships both inside and outside of the racing community, with an emphasis on building the speedway’s sponsorship base, driver participation, and fan involvement. It is expected that she will assume full responsibilities of the position on December 1.
Chirico said, “After visiting Evans Mills Speedway, I was very impressed with the efficiency of the core team in place, and excited with the vision for the speedway moving forward. The facility’s potential is limitless, and it is an exciting opportunity to be involved with. I am looking forward to working with the existing team to make Evans Mills ‘the place to be’ in 2017 and beyond.”

Evans Mills Speedway is a 3/8 mile asphalt oval located just outside of Fort Drum. Featured classes in 2016 included the Super Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Trucks, and INEX Legends; with Bandoleros being introduced later in the season. The speedway intends to continue all of those classes, and they have already announced the much-anticipated addition of a crate-engine asphalt Modified division for the 2017 season. Information regarding a banquet to honor Evans Mills’ 2016 drivers, as well as more information on the upcoming season, will be released in the coming weeks.
