Evergreen Adds Open Comp Show to January’s ‘Snowball’ Opener

St. Johns, PA (12/20/2015)- With over 60 cars pre-registered for the upcoming ‘Snowball 100’ Enduros at Evergreen Raceway, there’s been a lot of positive chatter about the reopening of the historic 1/3-mile asphalt oval. Two popular divisions are slated to take the first green flag on the afternoon of Saturday, January 9th– the 4-cylinders and 6/8-cylinders. Both will compete in 100-lap events and fight to the finish for the $500 prize. Due to the overwhelming support, a third division, ‘Open Competition’, has been added and depending on car count, those drivers will compete for a minimum of 50-laps.

With the exception of convertibles, any vehicle is allowed to compete in the Open Competition show, although there are a few safety rules that the vehicles must comply with. The vehicles must have a full cockpit cage (for driver safety), a driver’s side window net, racing seat only and a four or five point racing harness. All vehicles must run on any DOT approved tires (no snow tires) and passengers are not allowed to ride along in this particular division. Any 4, 6 or 8 cylinder vehicle may compete as long as they meet the requirements mentioned above. This includes all wheel drive vehicles, truck and vans. Like the other divisions that day, if 25 or more vehicles take the green flag, the winner will receive $500. Otherwise, the purse will be prorated.

Due to the Snowball event being less than three weeks away, there is not pre registration option available for the Open Competition division. Drivers must register at the speedway the day of the show. Furthermore, the pre-registration for the 4-cylinder and 6/8-cylinder divisions will close on January 1, 2016, so get those pre-registrations mailed in to receive a $10 pre-registration discount.

The pit gates will open just before 11 AM for the Snowball 100s on January 9th. Pit admission is $25. The grandstands are slated to open at 12 noon and grandstand admission is just $5. Children 10 years of age and younger will be admitted for FREE. Both, fans and drivers are asked to bring a canned good item, which will be donated to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in St. Johns.

The green flag is set to drop at 1 PM for the official kickoff of the 2016 racing season. For more information regarding Evergreen Raceway, including the Snowball rules and pre-registration list, please visit www.evergreenracewaypark.com. Please like their Facebook page as well.

St. Johns, PA (12/8/2015)- Evergreen Raceway is proud to announce CK Auto Service and Race Fab as their victory lane sponsor for the 2016 season. As each feature winners pulls into victory lane for interviews and photos, they’ll know for a fact that CK is more than just a fab shop.

When it comes to racing, they specialize in full bodied cars, from clipping frames to hanging bodies and even setting up the racecars, it’s a one stop shop for everyone.

Owned and operated by Chris Kemmerer, CK Auto Service and Race Fab can be contact at (267) 923-5366. They also have a Facebook page for everyone to like and share.

Chris stated about how excited he is for the reopening of Evergreen Raceway and wanted to do something to show his support for the track and its racers, which is why he decided to come on board to sponsor Evergreen’s CK Auto Service and Race Fab victory lane.

“What I’m looking forward to the most is being a part of bringing back some family values, mixed with good, hard door handle to doors handle short track racing at Evergreen”, he said.

Chris also stated that he’s looking forward to working with Evergreen for not only the 2016 season, but years beyond.

He continued, “I’m proud to have my business associated with Evergreen and can’t wait to get some great victory lane shots. I’d also like to wish Jason, Billy, the racers and the entire Evergreen Raceway staff the best of luck this upcoming season.”

“Snowball” Enduros Looking Stellar for Evergreen Raceway

Evergreen News and Notes…

St. Johns, PA (12/6/2015)- Thanks to new management, volunteer help and from listening to past and present competitors of the track, the 2016 racing season for Evergreen Raceway in St. Johns, PA is shaping up in a hurry. Their first event of the year is slated for Saturday, January 9th and the response thus far has been significant.

The “Snowball 100s” Enduro events will kick off snow, rain or shine. Drivers are able to pre-register for the show, which provides them with a $10 pre-registration discount. To date, more than 30 Four Cylinder drivers and nearly 20 6/8-cylinder racers have signed up for the show. A special grandstand admission $5 is set for adults and children 10 years and younger will be admitted for free.  Fans and drivers are also asked to bring a canned food item, which will be donated to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, which is just up the road from the racetrack.

Thanks to the generosity of many, special awards will be presented at the Snowball event. MoTorsport Video Production is offering a $50 CASH prize to the driver of the car with the coolest paint scheme in the 100s. This will be one overall prize (4-cyl. & 6/8-cyl. Mixed) and not one prize for each division. Also, “Tito Juice” and Electric Frog Designs have come onboard to supply the trophies and plaques for both divisions.

With a minimum of 25 cars taking the green in each division, the winner will receive $500 as long as they pass post race tech. The remainder of the top five will also be paid out and Ted Grow, the track’s co-announcer, has decided to pay $25 each from 6th-10th if at least 25 cars take the green in each division.

The speedway’s regular divisions of racing on Sunday afternoons will be the Evergreen Modifieds, Tour Type Modifieds, Dirt Modifieds, Late Models, Pro Stocks, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Four Cylinders and INEX Legends. Of course each division won’t be on the card weekly, as certain divisions will be alternated in and out throughout the season. The full schedule will be released by the end of December, along with the divisional payouts.

One interesting fact is that the Pro Stock division will return to the speedway in 2016. The division evolved from the Street Stock class in the mid to late 90s and was axed from the tracks schedule following the 2004 season.

“There are quite a few old Pro Stocks lying around and several more that have been parked in storage for years”, noted track manager, Jason Makarewicz.

“Many of those drivers and car owners have contacted us, begging for a shot to be on the schedule, so after a lot of consideration, we’ve decided to give them a shot. Back when they ran on a regular basis, they always put on a terrific show.”

Many drivers are fired up for the start of 2016, including Modified driver, Pat Verwys (Verwys Family Motorsports). He and his family have supported local short track racing for decades.

“VFR Motorsports was elated to learn that Jason and Billy have teamed up to restore Evergreen Raceway to its former glory. With our 3rd generation now racing INEX, we are looking forward to returning home this upcoming season to compete in the Modifieds, Legends, Banderols, and Enduros. January cannot come soon enough!”, said Pat.

Season pit licenses and reserved parking spots are now available as well. Neither are required, however, the pit admission fee will be higher without a pit license and a parking spot will not be guaranteed without having a reserved spot. If a driver or car owner would like to fill out and mail in their pit license and reserved parking spot form, it is available for download on the speedway website. If sent in before the first practice date, they will receive a $10 discount off each.

The divisional rules were released a few weeks ago and they are listed on the track website- www.evergreenracewaypark.com.

Building renovations have already started at the track and Makarewicz and his team have many ideas and plans for the fans to interact with the drivers in 2016. As the new season draws closer, more news will be announced, but in the meantime, please keep your eyes glued to the speedway website and don’t forget to LIKE and view their Facebook page as well.
