Winter Storm Stella Forces Cancellation Of New Egypt Speedway March Meltdown

New Egypt, NJ – With over a foot of snow forecasted for the Central New Jersey area, New Egypt Speedway management has decided to cancel the 2017 version of the March Meltdown.

“With the way the weather looked, we are looking out for the best interest of all the drivers, car owners, teams and fans”, said Joey Liquori who is a member of the New Egypt Speedway management team. “We didn’t want to see anybody tear anything up cause the surface was too soft from the weather, we are looking to have a big season this year and we didn’t want to start it off on the wrong foot.

An all-star lineup was taking place for the March Meltdown that included invaders such as Mike Mahaney, Tyler Dippel, Frank Cozze, Danny Creeden, Duane Howard, Jimmy Horton and many more who were to take on the New Egypt Speedway regulars such in Ryan Godown, Billy Pauch Jr., David VanHorn, Danny Bouc and more.

The event will not be made up. The next Big Block vs. Small Block Modified event will be the “Garden State Gunfight” held on Tuesday night June 20th which will be 60-Laps in distance and $6,000 to win with $400 to start.

All entry fee money that was submitted will be mailed back.

The focus now shifts to the first of many Open Practices that New Egypt Speedway has planned for the 2017 season on Saturday March 25th. Pit gates will open at 10AM for early Tech Inspection and practice will run from 12-4PM and is open to any racing vehicle. Pit admission will be $25 per person with grandstand admission being FREE.

New Egypt Speedway will then kick-off its 20th Season as a dirt track on Saturday April 1st where the 358 Modifieds will be in action in a 30-Lap Main Event paying $2,500 to win and $300 to start along with the Sportsman, Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars and Rookie Sportsman.

New Egypt Speedway is located on Route 539 in New Egypt, NJ just minutes from Six Flags Great Adventure and the New Jersey Turnpike. A racy 7/16-mile D-shaped dirt oval, New Egypt Speedway serves Garden State race fans with some of the best competition in the country. Flemington Department Store To Sponsor Crate vs. Sportsman Portion Of March Meltdown

New Egypt, NJ – Flemington Department Store located on Route 31 in Flemington, NJ which is just adjacent to the former Flemington Speedway has come aboard to sponsor the Sportsman portion of the March Meltdown which will be held on March 18 at New Egypt Speedway.

The 25-Lap affair that will pay $1,000 to win and $100 to start will feature the Crate Modifieds vs. Open Sportsman which will follow the 50-Lap $5,000 to win Big Block vs. Small Block feature on Saturday March 18th.

Flemington Department Store proprietor Marty Resnick will be entering his third season of competition at New Egypt Speedway in 2017.

The March Meltdown kicks off New Egypt Speedway’s 20th season as a dirt track on Saturday March 18th.

Pit Gates will swing open at 12PM with Spectator gates opening at 2PM with Hot Laps beginning at 3PM and Heat Races at 4PM. Adult admission is $25, Seniors 65 & up are $23, Teens 12-15 along with Military and their spouses are $15 and Children 11 and under are FREE.
Ms. Motorsports 2017 Taylor Albert will also be making an appearance at New Egypt Speedway on March 18th.

Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars Return For 2017 Season At New Egypt Speedway

New Egypt, NJ – The rapidly growing Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars will again call New Egypt Speedway home again in 2017. After running exhibitions in 2015, 2016 was the first “official” season that these cars hit the racetrack. The highlight of the season was when the series was the support division for the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Tour when they visited New Egypt Speedway last June.

In 2016 22 different drivers competed in the Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars at New Egypt Speedway. Six different drivers picked up wins in 2016, Ryan Godown was the big winner picking up five feature event wins at the Ocean County speed plant. Bobby Butler was the inaugural track champion by just 14 markers over Lou Cicconi.

The Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars have 15 races scheduled at New Egypt Speedway during the 2017 campaign including the “Mr. Wingless Classic” planned for Saturday, August 26th.

Several new cars have been purchased for competition at New Egypt Speedway during the 2017 season.
