Its been over 6 months since the Whelen All American Series has hit the high banked quarter mile track In Riverhead NY.
This afternoon at 4:00PM the first qualifying heat will roll out of the turn 4 gate and winter will be officially over. The Super Pro Truck division will get its started followed by 5 other sets of heats leading up to a 6:00PM start time for 8 feature divisions.
With Only Holland and Riverhead listed as official NASCAR tracks in New York State and the large fields expected each week the Modified champion will have a great shot at a New York State NASCAR Title.
Over 20 Modifieds practiced in the 2 practice weekends and more are expected on opening night. Tom Rogers Jr in his beautiful red white and blue #9 will look to defends his title over a tough field of Modifieds and to do another double with his figure 8 car.
Dave Brigati will not only be hot on Tom’s tale in the Modified division he will also race in up to 4 divisions per week. Dave will see action in the Modifieds, Late Models, Super Pro Trucks and his always potent Crate Modified.
Other divisions are expected to have big fields on opening night. The Crate Modified ranks will be growing this year with around 18 cars per week expected.
LIVARS, the vintage modified division that was so popular last year has several more cars this year and are looking for a banner year. Several drivers will challenge the unstoppable Don Howe in his blue #34.
The INEX Legends have several rookies this year, while a few drivers have moved up this division always brings the most cars to the track on a weekly basis and should do so again this year.
Rounding out the opening weekend will be the Late Models, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and always popular Figure 8 cars to close the evening.
Opening night, great weather, special $20.00 admission lets make winter a distant memory.
Then on Sunday afternoon May 6th stop back for another full card of Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and a full afternoon of Enduro racing, admission also only $20.00
