Modifieds running 50 lap/$2000-to-win feature this Saturday at Mahoning Valley point night

(LEHIGHTON, PA. 9-17-19) This coming Saturday evening, September 21, Mahoning Valley Speedway will present the final points night of the season. Race time is 6:00 pm.

At the top of the docket will be a 50-lap/$2000-to-win Modified feature. The winner will be awarded a guaranteed starting spot for the Sunday, October 6 Modified 150 King of the Green at Evergreen Raceway.

Late Models. Street Stocks, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks are also in action.

For many of the Mahoning regulars this will also be the final tune-up for the 8th Annual Octoberfast which takes place on October 12.

Heading into Saturday’s race meet Bobby Jones holds a 32 point advantage over Kyle Strohl for top honors in the Modified division. Jones will be looking to capture his first track title in 25 years, the last coming in the Pro 4s in 1994.

In the Late Models it will be decided between Frankie Althouse and Mike Sweeney. Althouse is 28 points ahead and will be eyeing his second straight crown while Sweeney is hoping to garner his third title in the past four seasons.

Jon Moser is on the verge of capturing his third Street Stock championship. He stands comfortably above Mark Martini and Randy Schlenker in his quest but can’t rest on his laurel either.

The Pro 4s show veteran Bobby Kibler Sr., leading the standings with one final race to go. Kibler has been racing at Mahoning since 1990 and if he is successful this will mark his career first title.

The closest point battle is being contested with the Hobby Stocks as the top five in points, Devin Schmidt, Al Arthofer, Travis Solomon, Jacob Boehm and Peyton Arthofer are all mathematically qualified to win the crown. And it’s very tight between 1-2 Schmidt and A. Arthofer as they are separated by a mere three points.

Front gates open at 4:00 pm. Adult grandstand admission is $18, $2 off for students, seniors 65+ and active military. Children under 10 are free. Pit admission is $30 for members and $40 non-members. Driver sign-ins will take place from 2:30 – 3:45. Early paid practice will run from noon to 3:00. Warmups will start at 3:45.

The speedway will then take the next two weeks off in preparation of Octoberfast 2019 slated for Saturday, October 12 at 4:00 pm. Rain date is October 19.

Modifieds will be running in a 150-lap/$5000-to win feature. Also in action will be Late Models, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks plus the All Start Slingshots and Jr. Slingshots.

Drivers who compete at Octoberfast will be given 100 bonus points towards their regular season championship standings.

The 2019 season will conclude on Sunday, October 20 with the Mahoning Valley Speedway Small Car Nationals.
