Waterford CT. (August 9, 2020) – 20-year old Matt Swanson, started on the pole thanks to winning his qualifying heat race, and then dominated the ‘Welcome Back’ 75-lap season opening event for the both Modified Racing Series and New London Waterford Speedbowl. The win was Swanson’s first series race and his first in a tour-type modified.
Swanson, of Avon, MA, was driving the famed # 25 Roscoe Racing-Casella Snow Plows modified for long-time MRS competitor and car-owner Gary Casella and his popular dog “Mia” celebrating her eighth birthday at Saturday’s event.
East Hampton Ct’s Anthony Flannery finished runner-up, with Canaan, NH, veteran Donnie Lashua rounding out the podium.
Long Island’s Eric Goodale and New Hampshire’s Andy Shaw finished fourth and fifth.
