OSWEGO, N.Y. — Doug Coby’s day at Oswego Speedway with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on September 4 included two fourth-place efforts. Coby qualified the No. 10 Mayhew Tools machine in the fourth spot, ran inside the top-10 for the distance of the Toyota Mod Classic 150, and crossed the line fourth at the finish driving the Doug Coby Racing entry.

Coby’s car was strong — but not quite strong enough to contend for the win — in a race that only had few cautions, and most of the leaders, including Coby, went the entire distance on the same set of tires. Overall, it was a strong day for the Milford, Connecticut, native.

“We had a skip in the motor in practice and we lost a lot of time changing everything we could to try and fix it,” Coby said. “We got rid of whatever it was for qualifying, and we were good there. It was a solid day. We didn’t quite have a car that could contend for the win, but we were right there with some of the other guys who were in the top-five. I would have liked to be a little bit better — but you never know when you are going to get cautions and what sort of grip the track is going to give you at Oswego.”

With Oswego in the rear-view mirror, Coby and the team will head to the next three consecutive weeks to close the Whelen Modified Tour season. Up next will be a trip to Richmond Raceway on Friday, September 10, for 150 laps. Coby’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut with GMS Racing at Bristol Motor Speedway will take place on Thursday, September 16.
