Rebel Yell: Short Track Super Series ‘Elite’ Series Kicks off at Cherokee Speedway Feb. 24-26

The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco is closing in on the debut of the all-new Halmar International ‘Elite’ Series.

The ‘Rebel 50’ at Gaffney, S.C.’s Cherokee Speedway hosts the debut of the ‘Elite’ Series, with a 50-lap, $25,000-to-win main event. The total STSS Modified payout alone tops $80,000 for this event.

The ‘Rebel 50’ weekend invades the “Place Your Mama Warned You About” on February 24-26 with three nights of action on the South Carolina red clay.

The weekend begins with an Open Practice night on Thursday (Feb. 24). The pit gates open at 4 p.m. with cars hitting the track from 6-10 p.m.

Racing begins on Friday (Feb. 25) with Qualifying Night for the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman.

The Modified qualifiers will be 20 laps in distance and pay $1,000 to win and $200 to take the green flag.

The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will run 15-lap qualifiers that are $500 to win and $100 to start.

Joining the Friday night program will be the Mid-East Street Stocks ($1,000-to-win) and the Thunder Bombers ($700-to-win) running full programs.

On Friday, hot laps begin at 7 p.m. with racing scheduled to follow at 7:45 p.m.

The weekend concludes on Saturday, February 26, with the inaugural STSS ‘Elite’ Series event. The Modifieds and Crate 602 Sportsman will run B-Mains to set the starting line-ups for their feature events.

The STSS Modifieds will run their 50-lap, $25,000-to-win and $500-to-start main event and crown the first ever STSS ‘Elite’ winner. The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman run their 30-lap, $2,000-to-win main in a non-points event.

The Mid-East Street Stocks return on Saturday night in a $1,500-to-win feature event and the SHARP Mini Late Models race for $1,000-to-win to round out the weekend finale.

Hot laps begin at 5 p.m. with racing to follow at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Sunday (Feb. 27) is reserved as a rain date for the weekend.

A full information center has been made available for the week of racing for both the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman on the series website.
