Riverhead Raceway, a staple on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour since the inaugural season in 1985 will host three WMT events for 2022 starting with the Miller Lite 200 Saturday May 14th. The Miller Lite 200 will unfold just one week after Riverhead Raceway begins their 72nd season of Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series Saturday May 7th.

The Miller Lite 200 serves as the third event of the 2022 WMT campaign with many teams seeking to establish their footing towards the season long WMT championship. One such team is that of defending WMT champion Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville. In the season opener in February at New Smyrna Speedway Bonsignore’s race came to an uncustomary early end with mechanical issues. No matter his result Friday night at Richmond Raceway rest assured Bonsignore will be highly motivated for the Miller Lite 200 at his home track. Justin ranks second on the all time WMT list at Riverhead Raceway with eight, just three behind Mike Ewanitsko and after being shut out of victory lane on Long Island in 2021 Bonsignore will look to change that trend as well.

The 2021 Miller Lite 200 found former multi time series champion Doug Coby of Milford, Ct. finally breaking into victory lane at Riverhead, however with a reduced racing schedule announced for 2022 Doug will not be defending his popular victory. That leaves the door open for a couple of local drivers to perhaps etch their name into the Riverhead WMT record books. JB Fortin of Holtsville turned heads in November when he won the Islip 300 and hopes to back that victory up with one in the Miller Lite 200. Defending track champion Kyle Soper of Manorville, author of 24 career wins and three track titles at the demanding quarter mile may very well find himself holding the Miller Lite 200 hardware.

The Miller Lite 200 will be followed by WMT visits to Riverhead Raceway Saturday June 25th and Saturday September 17th. Joining the Miller Lite 200 program May 14th are the Crate Modifieds, INEX Legend Race Cars, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. Final practice for the Miller Lite 200 will run from 3:00-4:00 pm, qualifying is scheduled for 6:00 pm with the Miller Lite 200 approximately at 8:00 pm.
The Miller Lite 200 will be available on the Flo Racing platform. Recently Riverhead Raceway in conjunction with Flo Racing announced they have partnered up to present all 2022 Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series races on the app. Riverhead Raceway will continue to produce the weekly program that was formerly viewed on Riverheadraceway.Tv since 2020.

The 2022 Riverhead season opens Saturday May 7th with a seven division program on tap led by the NASCAR Tour Type Modifieds. The entire 2022 schedule of events can be found at www.riverheadraceway.com. E-mails continue to reach us at riverheadraceway1@gmail.com, while our phone number remains 631-842-RACE.
