BLOOMSBURG, PA – Ready for battle.

The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco prepares for its second trip to Bloomsburg Fair Raceway. The ‘Battle at Bloomsburg’ takes place on Tuesday, June 7 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds.

This year’s ‘Battle’ serves as the annual North vs. South combination event, carrying points for both the River Valley Builders North Region and the Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply South Region for the STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds.

The 50-lap affair will award the winner with a $7,000 top prize with $700 reserved just to take the green flag.

Last year’s inaugural ‘Battle at Bloomsburg’ lasted only 29 laps, as thunderstorms moved in just as the race reached the halfway mark of its scheduled 50 laps, making it an official STSS Race.

The 2021 ‘Battle at Bloomsburg’ was not a combination event, falling in the River Valley Builders North Region schedule only.

Boyertown, Pa.’s Jeff Strunk claimed his second career STSS victory in the historic event, topping Middletown, N.Y.’s Anthony Perregoand King Ferry, N.Y.’s Mike Mahaney in the rain-shortened affair.

This year, the event serves as Round No. 4 for both the River Valley Builders North Region and the Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply South Region in their respective $15,000 championship efforts.

Wurtsboro, N.Y.’s Danny Creeden sits atop the North Region standings three races into the tour. Creeden maintains a two-point advantage over Savannah, N.Y.’s Matt Sheppard, who has won twice thus far on the North Region.

St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada’s Mat Williamson ranks third in the North Region standings after his win at Accord (N.Y.) Speedway, just 14 points behind Creeden. Just four markers behind Williamson sits Sheffield, Mass., native Andy Bachetti, who has relied on consistency three races in to hang with the top-three. Cottekill, N.Y.’s Danny Tyler rounds out the top five, 68 points out of first.

In South Region competition, Ringoes, N.J.’s Ryan Godown sits atop the standings following a third place run at New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway. Godown holds a slim five-point advantage over the victor at New Egypt, Matt Sheppard.

Potsdam, N.Y.’s Michael Maresca fell to third after a 14th-place finish at New Egypt, 31 markers behind the top two. Mike Mahaney – the defending South Region champion – and Sprakers, N.Y.’s Stewart Friesen – the ‘Diamond State 50’ winner at Delaware International Speedway – are tied for fourth, 54 points off Godown’s pace.

The Crate 602 Sportsman of the Precision Hydraulic & Oil North Region will join the program going for 25-laps and a $1,500 winners’ share. Cream Ridge, N.J.’s Steve Davis leads the North Region standings heading into Round No. 3.

Davis maintains a 44-point lead ahead of Wallkill, N.Y.’s Travis Green and a 50-point advantage over Fair Haven, Vt.’s Justin Comes.

The event carries a Wednesday (June 8) rain date.

A complete General Information center will be available for the ‘Battle at Bloomsburg’ in the coming days.

The entire night of racing, along with every STSS race in 2022, will be broadcast LIVE on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv).

Bloomsburg Fair Raceway is located at 620 West Third Street Bloomsburg, PA 17815 and can be reached by phone at 570.784.4949. The speedway website is https://racing.bloomsburgfair.com/.
