Ultra Wheel Signs with Tommy Baldwin Racing for the 2019 NASCAR Modified Season

(Mooresville, NC) – Ultra Wheel has signed with Tommy Baldwin Racing for the 2019 NASCAR Whelen Modified Series season, acting as a primary sponsor for ten races throughout the year. NASCAR Modified veteran, Jon McKennedy will pilot the No. 7NY Chevrolet, starting at Myrtle Beach Speedway, March 16th.

Ultra Wheel, a California based company, produces custom wheels for cars, trucks and SUVs. Tommy Baldwin has been associated with Ultra Wheel in the past, both in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Whelen Modifed Series.

“I am excited for another season with Jon McKennedy behind the wheel of the No. 7NY Ultra Wheel Chevrolet. He has a lot of talent, and we had some success last year on the tour. I’m ready to kick off the season at Myrtle Beach Speedway in March,” said team owner, Tommy Baldwin.

Jon McKennedy has been competing on the NASCAR Whelen Modified circuit for over a decade. Last year, McKennedy and TBR had a lot of success, collecting six Top-10’s, four Top-5’s and four wins.

Bullring Bash Announces Additional Staff Members For 2019 Events

Attleboro, Massachusetts (January 18, 2019) — The Bullring Bash Quarter Mile Challenge would like to officially welcome more than a dozen additional hires for its inaugural 2019 season. Boasting decades of combined experience in national and regional racing, the newly announced staff members will bring the highest quality of talent to technical inspection, racing operations, track services, and media during this year’s Bullring Bash events at White Mountain Motorsports Park and Thunder Road International Speedbowl.

“With the Bullring Bash, we’re fortunate to benefit from some of the most talented and experienced staff members in Modified and Legends racing in New England,” said Bullring Bash founder Josh Vanada. “From our incredible track services crew to experienced technical inspectors, a strong racing operations crew, and talented media personnel, we’re aiming to deliver a racing experience unlike any other at White Mountain and Thunder Road this summer.”

Technical Director John Kelly and Director of Timing and Scoring Jenn Ready were already announced as key hires for the Bullring Bash in December. Both Kelly and Ready have extensive experience in short track racing throughout the East Coast.

Weir Motorsports and Andy Shaw Join Bullring Bash For 2019 Season

Attleboro, MA (January 16, 2019) — Continuing a successful partnership that reaches back for nearly 25 years, driver Andy Shaw will return to action for Weir Motorsports in the 2019 Bullring Bash Quarter Mile Challenge. Shaw will run in the Modified class, and will once again drive owner David Weir’s #66 KDW Landscaping/Mayhan Antiques/Sumner Sessions Excavations car.

“What drew us to the Bullring Bash was the fact that a lot of the tracks are tracks we’ve raced on,” said Shaw. “We come from a PASS Modified and Super Late Model background, so we’ve raced at those tracks, and I actually consider White Mountain (Motorsports Park) as one of my home tracks—it’s 45 minutes from my house, and the closest racetrack to my house. I have a lot of experience there, and I feel like the tracks are a good fit. Modified racing doesn’t generally come up this way, so we’re excited to have them somewhat close to where we live.”

“We’re very excited to get to a track where we have a lot of familiarity with how the track races,” added owner David Weir. “Andy has a lot of laps at the places down south, but he has way more laps at places like White Mountains and Thunder Road. They’re 100% handling and driver tracks. You can’t just mash the gas and make up for it down the straightaway—you have to have a lot of finesse, especially at Thunder Road. There’s a unique line there, and you have to learn it.”

“We’re excited to welcome Weir Motorsports and Andy Shaw to the Bullring Bash for our inaugural 2019 season,” said Bullring Bash founder Josh Vanada. “It’s exciting for fans at White Mountain and Thunder Road to have local favorites to root for, especially when we’re bringing Modified racing back to these tracks for the first time in a number of years. To have Andy and David, with a New Hampshire-based effort, be one of the first teams to commit to running with us shows two things: not only the quality of competition in our field, but also strong driver and owner ties to our communities.”

Shaw and Weir have a long and successful history on track together. Together, they won five PASS Modified championships in six years from 2010 to 2015, and have continued their partnership in additional Modified events in recent years. In the Bullring Bash, the duo will compete with a brand new 2019 Troyer chassis and Rahmoc engine, and crew chief Phil Butterfield will continue to lead the team’s volunteer crew.

“We feel like a lot of stuff has come together over the past few months to make it so we’re extremely competitive,” Shaw added. “We have a good group of guys together with a lot of background experience in racing, and we feel like when we’re on a level playing field, we have an advantage because of the help we have.”

Beyond that, both Shaw and Weir are excited to be a part of bringing Modified competition back to northern New England, and have high hopes for the new events.

“Super Late Model racing had gone away from Thunder Road for about 10 years, and when PASS went back there a few years ago, it absolutely packed the place, because the fans up here love to see something new,” Weir said. “When something like the Modifieds comes in, the crowd likes that, and the fans here will definitely be interested. I know just from talking to people in the racing community at the Northeast Motorsports Expo, a lot of people are planning to be at both Thunder Road and White Mountain to see these types of cars there.”
