Riverhead Raceway Finally Holds its 2016 Champions Banquet

2 months ago the staff was ready, the champions were ready, the fans were ready  but mother nature had other ideas. An unexpected snow storm dumped upwards of a foot of snow on eastern Long Island and the Riverhead Raceway banquet had to be postponed.

Last night the revival of a tradition that had been on hiatus for about a decade and what a revival it was.  New track owners Tom Gatz, Connie and Eddie Partridge kept their promise and brought back the gala affair. Over 300 guests wined and dined at Giorgio’s of Bathing Hollow on the north shore of long Island just a few miles from the track.

Drivers, crew members, sponsors, officials, track personnel and fans filled the beautiful  catering facility for drinks, music by Noiz,  dancing, racing gossip and great food.

As always master of ceremonies and track announcer did a great  job introducing the champions and top 5 drivers in each division.  Two tables full of plaques and goodies were handed out over the course of the evening.  In addition to a championship plaque they received a beautiful championship ring from the track.

At the end of the ceremonies, each of the 6 NASCAR Whelen All American Series and the INEX Legends champions took their turn at the podium  to thank their friends, families and crew members for their support, hard work and dedication.
