WALL, NJ ~ A pair of drivers from Howell, Ryan Bilello and Johnny Carpenter, topped twin 25 lap Factory Stock races at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. It was the third win of the 2023 season for each driver.
In the first 25 lapper impressive rookie Bilello advanced to third spot behind Cranford’s Matt Badessa and Logan Fraser of Toms River by lap four. Badessa’s car went spinning from the lead on lap five and Bilello turned up the heat on then leader Fraser.
Bilello then made his winning move diving to the inside lane and into the top spot on lap seven. Eventual runner up Rob Anderton of Howell advanced to second on lap 14. The top two raced in that formation to the finish, with Manchester’s Scott Riggleman, Carpenter and Bryan O’Shea of Neptune City completing the top five.
In the second Factory Stock main established veteran Carpenter was in the top five early, wrestled his way into the top three by lap five and then charged to the front for good on the inside lane on lap nine. Brick’s Nick Catone wrestled with Carpenter in this one before finishing second, followed by Rob Anderton, Scott Riggleman and O’Shea.
O’Shea also raced his Sportsman car on Saturday night and grabbed win, taking the lead from front runner Ryan Fisher of Howell on the 18th lap. Fisher held on for second, with Howell’s Kevin Davison, Hazlet’s Chris Silvestri and Quinn Trimmer of Waldwick wrapping up the top five.
After his car momentarily lost power in the early going forcing him to the pit area, Jeff Kot came back to the track and won the 25 lap race for the Three Quarter Midgets. Wall’s Tyler Ferris led the first 18 laps before settling into second. Buddy Sload, Kyle Teraska and Mark Yoder were third through fifth.
The Demolition Derby ended in a hard fought tie with Long Island drivers Jason Davoy and Bob Benison sharing top honors.
