LANCASTER, N.Y. (March 1, 2024) – There has been an adjustment to the early portion of the 2004 stock car schedule at Lancaster Motorplex. The adjustment will be to the program scheduled for Saturday, May 11th. The May 11th program will now feature the Sportsman, Street Stocks, and 4 Cylinders with the opening green flag taking place at 2:30pm.
Co-Owner Scott Nurmi released the following statement regarding the schedule adjustment.
“Our priority is to always deliver the highest quality events possible for our fans and race teams here at Lancaster Motorplex. Due to the conflicting schedules, we feel it is in the best interest of the modified community to drop the Tour-Type Modifieds from our program on May 11th. In their place, we will be adding an additional Sportsman race. We looked for an alternate date and it just didn’t seem to work out. We were trying to work with the management of the Race of Champions, so we did not have a conflict of dates, but due to a lack of communication we both released schedules at near the same time and had a conflict on that date. We have not been able to remedy the situation and the last thing we want is for the racers to have to decide on who to support on that day as modified racing in our area is very fragile and the car count is somewhat limited to have a good show. So, we have elected to not run the Modified portion and not have the racers make a choice.”
“We are going to continue with the schedule we have put out for the Modified division for the rest of 2024. We are hoping to get the class back on track in the Western New York area with a healthy field as we are aware that a lot of our patrons are very passionate about Modified racing. Thank you for your understanding and hope to see you all at the racetrack in 2024.”
The 65th Anniversary Season of racing at Lancaster Motorplex will officially kick off with the Registration Party at Sideline’s Sports Bar & Grill, 6036 Transit Road in Depew, NY on Saturday, March 16th from 12-3pm. On track activities will begin on Saturday, April 27th with an Open Practice session for all competitors.
