Port Royal, PA, March 30th, 2024: Port Royal Speedway’s regular season opener has been dealt another blow as it faces cancellation due to weather for the third consecutive time.
Speedway officials have worked all through the week in hopes of racing this coming weekend, but persistent rainfall at race time has forced the decision to forego racing for another week.
After much discussion throughout the week as well as the morning of race day, the speedway officials decided with the projected forecast to allow fans to stay home and prepare for the Easter holiday with their families and to return to the track next week.
The Port Royal Speedway team shares in the disappointment that teams and fans feel about not being able to kick off 2024 the way they had hoped for the Weikert Livestock 410 sprint cars, Selinsgrove Ford super late models and the Zimmerman Truck Repair limited late models.
They urge everyone to stay connected through their official channels on Facebook at Port Royal Speedway Trackside Media and on X/Twitter @PortRoyalSpdway for updates and announcements regarding future events.
Sprint car fans can look forward to racing back at The Speed Palace on April 6th for the makeup event for the Penns Valley Meat Market 305 sprint cars of the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge from 2023 partnered with the Weikert Livestock 410 sprint cars for a regular season event.
