Heavy Rainfall, Severe Weather Threat Cancels Cedar Lake Opener; Focus Shifts to Saturday’s Finale

Cedar Lake is still set to host the World of Outlaws on Saturday along with a fireworks show

With heavy showers bringing over an inch of rain overnight to Cedar Lake Speedway and the Precision Weather model projecting potentially severe thunderstorms bringing more rain throughout Friday evening, World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car and track officials have agreed to cancel night one of the Independence Spectacular.

Saturday’s finale at the Wisconsin oval is still on as scheduled and will feature a fireworks show in addition to the night of racing.

If you purchased Friday only tickets in advance, the tickets can be exchanged for general admission entry to Saturday’s race. If you purchased a Friday only ticket in advance and can’t return for Saturday, you will receive a refund to your original form of payment.

If you purchased a two-day ticket package at last year’s event, you may bring your physical ticket to the track and will receive a refund for Friday’s race. If you purchased a two-day ticket package in advance online, you will receive a refund to your original form of payment for Friday’s race.

If you purchased a camping or ramp spot at last year’s event, you may bring your physical reservation form to the track and will receive a $20 refund for a camping spot or $50 for a ramp spot. If you purchased a camping spot in advance online, you will receive a $20 refund to your original form of payment.

If you purchased a two-day VIP ticket, you may bring your badge to the track for an $80 refund for Friday’s portion.

The World of Outlaws now turn its attention to the Independence Spectacular finale on Saturday, June 29 for a $12,000 payday. Tickets for Saturday can be purchased at the track.

David Gravel leads the World of Outlaws standings by 56 markers over Donny Schatz with Carson Macedo 20 points behind Schatz in third.
