VERNON, NY – An even dozen.
The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Modified circuit rolls into its 12th season in 2025 with a full schedule highlighted by the annual ‘Sunshine Swing’ and North and South Regions.
A new, unified engine and weight structure, much-requested bodywork changes – in addition to more evenly distributed purses – highlight the upcoming season.
“This off-season, we’ve taken the advice of competitors, manufacturers, car owners and technical advisors to streamline our rules package,” STSS founder Brett Deyo said.
“We have also taken a hard look at the distribution of purse structures. It is clear with the expense of getting to the tracks for all teams that paying more through the field is the pathway to maintaining healthy car counts.”
Sun, Fun & Speed
Four nights of racing are set for All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., featuring both the STSS Modifieds and their STSS Crate 602 Sportsman counterparts Feb. 4-8.
Following an open practice on Feb. 4, the STSS Modifieds race Wednesday (30 laps, $4,000 to win), Thursday (35 laps, $5,000 to win), Friday (40 laps, $6,000 to win) and Saturday (50 laps, $7,500 to win). The Crate 602 Sportsman battle for 25 laps and $1,500 to win Wednesday and Thursday and 30 laps, $2,000 to win Friday and Saturday.
North Points Race
The tight confines of N.Y.’s Accord Speedway lifts the lid on the 2025 North Region title fight with the ‘Battle of the Bullring’ on Tuesday, May 6.
The series moves on to Mike Bruno’s rejuvenated Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, N.Y., for the second edition of the ‘Adirondack Invasion’ on Thursday, May 29.
On Father’s Day (June 15), Devil’s Bowl Speedway – Airborne’s West Haven, Vt.-based sister track – hosts the ‘Slate Valley 50’ program.
Another traditional date – the pre-Independence Day ‘Firecracker 50’ program at the resurfaced Fonda Speedway on Wednesday, July 2.
Tyler Siri’s Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., returns on Thursday, July 10 with the ‘Dave Machuga Memorial Outlaw Showdown’ program.
Rome, N.Y., icon Richie Evans is remembered by his former home track – Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y., on Tuesday, July 15.
For the third consecutive year, the Canadian province of Quebec hosts the series for back-to-back events on Tuesday, July 22 at Autodrome Granby in Granby, Quebec and Wednesday, July 23 at Le RPM Speedway in Saint-Marcel-De-Richelieu, Quebec.
Akwesasne, N.Y.’s Mohawk International Raceway made a rousing series debut last summer and returns this year with the second ‘Summer Showdown on the Border’ event on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Holding its traditional Labor Day weekend date is Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y., for the New Yorker Special on Sunday, Aug. 30.
The historic Fonda 200 takes place at Fonda Speedway featuring 200 laps around the Track of Champions Sept. 11-13.
The return of the ‘Victoria’ name to Modified racing takes place at Utica-Rome Speedway on Sept. 26-27.
The final round of the North Region championship takes place Thursday, Oct. 23 as the kickoff to Eastern States Weekend with the ‘Hard Clay Finale’ at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y.
South Points Race
The ‘Speed Palace’ of Pa.’s Port Royal Speedway leads off the ’25 South Region title fight with a two-day event in Juniata County, Pa., on March 14-15.
One week later, the series heads to New Jersey for the ’60 Over Special’ at N.J.’s Bridgeport Motorsports Park on March 22.
A date that race fans now circle on their calendars is the series’ annual visit to Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa., for the ‘Berks County Brawl’ on the one-fifth-mile bullring Tuesday, May 20.
N.J.’s New Egypt Speedway has been a series mainstay and is set for a Tuesday, June 17 edition of the ‘Dirty Jersey’ spectacular.
Delaware’s Georgetown Speedway has been part of the STSS South Region schedule since 2015 and hosts its first of two races with the ‘Blast at the Beach’ on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Md.’s Hagerstown Speedway – formerly a mainstay for Modified racing in Maryland – is back with ‘Octoberfest’ Oct. 17-18.
Georgetown Speedway concludes the South Region championship fight on Oct. 30-31 with the Mid-Atlantic Championship Weekend.
Crate 602 Sportsman
Again in ’25, the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will take part in both North and South Regions. The schedule will be finalized and released in the coming weeks.
