ACCORD, NY – Who will get the horns?
The notorious ‘Ulster County Bullring’ Accord Speedway is the next stop for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco for the 12th edition of the ‘Battle of the Bullring’ spectacular on Tuesday, May 6.
For 2025, the event will carry added significance.
The Ricci family, led by patriarch Rich Ricci Sr., will be honored at the ’25 edition, recognizing the accomplishments of the southeastern New York staples in the dirt Modified community.
“There is no question the Ricci name is synonymous with success at Accord Speedway for pretty much the speedway’s entire existence,” STSS organizer and event co-promoter Brett Deyo said. “We wanted to take a moment and recognize their dedication to the speedway and the sport.”
The traditional Ricci No. 406 will play a key role in the midweek program.
STSS Modifieds will race 50 laps for a $6,406 top prize in Round No. 1 of the HYTORC of New York North Region title fight, with the STSS Sportsman Madsen Overhead Doors Inc. North Region Round No. 1 going 25 laps for $1,406 to the winner.
Four Cylinders, under speedway rules, will complete the program.
A year ago, Stewart Friesen of Sprakers, N.Y., picked up his second career Accord Speedway victory in a rain-shortened ‘Battle of the Bullring’ while the Sportsman main event fell to the precipitation.
A complete information sheet will be released in the coming days.
