(Minersville, PA 5-6-25) The USS Achey Inc., 602 Crate Sportsman will be in the spotlight this coming Friday evening, May 9, at Big Diamond Speedway with the Crate Classic, a 30-lap feature that will be awarding $3000-to-win.
This is the second running of this event which comes after a very successful inaugural outing last year that saw 36 cars check-in and Xavier Sprague score the popular victory over 2024 track champion Jorden Henn and Brennan Chapman.
With the impressive payout there is no question that another stout field of Crate cars will be on hand, and not to mention that fact there has only been one feature run to date due to weather issues – that race won by Colin Cox – so racers are certainly anxious to get on track.
Heat race starting spots will be set by random draw and for the feature the top qualifiers will take part in a ‘Revenge Draw.’
The Quandel Concrete 358 Modifieds will also be vying for a very good payday as $6000 awaits the first-place finisher at the conclusion of the 25-lap main.
The last time cars were on track was April 18 and Louden Reimert collected a Big Diamond Speedway record $20,000 payout for winning the 50-lap Fritz Roehrig Memorial in an on-so-close finish over Logan Watt.
Rounding out the race card will be the Red White and Blue Autos Inc., Roadrunners and the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman.
Pit gates open at 5:00 pm and grandstands at 5:30. Hot laps start at 7:15 followed by qualifying heats.
Adult general admission is $25, seniors $23, students aged 10-15 $10 and kids 9 and under are free. Pits are $35 for members and $45 for non-members.
Coming up on Friday, May 23, is Tony’s Meat Market Night with the 358 Modifieds battling in another 25-lap feature paying $6000-to-win. Also racing will be the 602 Crate Sportsman and Roadrunners.
Please note the originally scheduled Mid Atlantic Modifieds have been cancelled for that night.
