Oxford, ME — After teams checked over their mounts following Friday’s Yvon Bedard 109, the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour readied for another 125-lap affair Saturday night as part of the 52nd annual All That’s Metal Oxford 250 weekend. While several teams could not return after Friday’s showdown, thirty-seven teams joined in for Saturday’s headlining event.

In a stunning run, longtime Hudson, Lee and Star Speedway standout Geoff Rollins took a ‘+4’ in the third heat race qualifier while Jimmy Renfrew, Jr., D.J. Shaw and Trevor Sanborn surrounding him at the start of Saturday’s 125-lap main event.

Rollins led lap one but it was very quickly the Jimmy Renfrew-show out front as Friday’s winner Gabe Brown launched to the outside groove from a 14th-place starting spot for the long run ahead. The first caution flew on lap 39 with all but one of the seven cautions being quick-spin, single car yellows to slow the field.

Out front, time and time again, Renfrew watched Erick Sands stalk his rear bumper all night long as Derek Gluchacki, Gabe Brown, Raphael Lessard and Joey Pole kept things interesting in both the long and short runs. A final caution on lap 122 set up a final dash to the checkers with Renfrew unfazed once again to take his first Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour win of the season and fourth of his career. Raphael Lessard used the last two cautions to his advantage to charge underneath Erick Sands to take second with Gabe Brown taking fourth and Derek Gluchacki rounding out the top-ten.

Blainville, Quebec’s Jonathan Bouvrette finished sixth for the second consecutive night with Alexendre ‘Fireball’ Tardif, DJ Shaw, William Larue and Cam Huntress rounding out the top-ten.

The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour teams have a short week ahead, turning their cars around from the slightly-banked 3/8-mile at Oxford to the highbanked 1/4-mile of Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl next Sunday, August 31 for the 47th running of the EastRise Credit Union Labor Day Classic 200. One winner will have his name added to the granite monument high atop Quarry Hill at the famed Barre oval next Sunday afternoon with a 4:00pm Post Time.

By Rev Don Rivers We belong to God, we are His creation and He desires a relationship with us. The challenges we face in life are much easier with God by our side. All too often we find ourselves mourning the sudden loss of a friend, relative or racing companion. […]
