(Minersville, Pa. 8-25-25) Big Diamond Speedway will bring the curtain down on the 2025 season this coming weekend with action taking place on Friday evening, August 29 and Sunday evening, August 31.
Friday is Championship Night with division titles on the line in the Quandel Concrete 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Inc., 602 Crate Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Autos Inc., Roadrunners.
Heading into Friday’s point finale, there are three drivers in 358 Modifieds that are in contention for the championship led by Louden Reimert, who jumped back to the top of the standings after his third win of the season last Friday night. Reimert holds a slim 8-point advantage over Jeff Strunk and 31-point advantage over Duane Howard. Strunk and Howard have a combined 16 track titles while Reimert is aiming at is first.
The 602 Crate Sportsman class has come down to a battle between two-time and defending champ Jordan Henn and Mike Schneck Jr., although mathematically Matt Martino and Kevin Smith are in the hunt as well.
Henn has placed in the top-10 in every race this year as well as garnering seven top-5 finishes, which is best in class in both categories. Schneck has been very competitive and could surpass him given favorable conditions and some luck. He sits 75-points in the rears to Henn.
The Roadrunners will be decided in a two-driver clash between Chuck Fayash and Alex Schoffstall.
2023 champion Fayash has used the strength of 16 consecutive top-10s plus his second win of the season this past Friday enabled him to gain control of the standings lead by 8 over Schoffstall.
Schoffstall, who secured titles in 2020 and 2022, has recorded a division leading thirteen top-5 finishes and three feature wins to date. This performance has allowed him to lead the points for much of this season.
Between the three classes it all adds up to some very intense racing that will no doubt be thrilling right down to the finish of each feature.
Friday main grandstands will open at 5:30 pm with admission $20 for adults and free for kids 16 and under. Pit gates open at 5:00 pm. Pits are $35 for members and $45 non-members.
Sunday, August 31 will be the annual Jack Rich Inc., Coalcracker 72. Now in its 44th edition, this event has become one of the top status races for 358 Modifieds as a ‘Who’s, who,’ of winners have etched their names among the impressive list victors.
Up for grabs will be a very lucrative $15,000-to-win plus lap money and it’s $600 to take the green.
The 602 Crate Sportsman will be contending for a $1500-to-win payday in the Coalcracker 25. Thanks to Tony’s Meat Market in Minersville second through sixth places will be receiving an extra $100.
The Roadrunners are vying for a top prize of $500 in the Coalcracker 20, along with lap money.
