ON THE REBOUND: BOUC REBOUNDS FROM WORST FINISH OF THE YEAR TO VICTORY LANE; BAGS $4500 PAYDAY

NEW EGYPT, NJ – On the Rebound.

Two weeks ago, Danny Bouc had his finish of the season, finishing 13th, and losing the point lead for the first time since May. The bad feelings didn’t last long.

“Tonight, everything went right for us,” Bouc exclaimed. “Two weeks ago, nothing went right. We got back to the shop, changed a bunch of stuff (including a motor), and here we are.”

The Pipersville, Pa. raced from the 9th starting position to his third win of the season at New Egypt Speedway, bagging a $4,500 payday for ‘Katy’s Race’ in honor of Katy Mancini.

Mancini Custom Homes and John Blewett Inc. each added $1,000 to the winner’s share, raising it to the $4,500 that Danny Bouc took back to the Keystone State.

The non-stop feature saw Flemington, N.J.’s Bryan Kuhl grab the early lead, pacing the opening 19 laps, with Trenton, N.J.’s Davey Sammons chasing him until the competition of the 17th circuit.

With Kuhl setting the pace, Bouc was leading the charge of on comers to the front of the pack, with Ryan Godown and Billy Pauch Jr. in hot pursuit.

Bouc caught the top three on lap 11, with the top groove appearing the preferred line, with each of the lead trio occupying the top side.

Fortunately for Bouc, as he approached third place running Jack Butler, Butler had closed in on Sammons for the runner-up spot, suddenly forming a three-car duel for the second position.

Bouc dove underneath Butler for third at the halfway mark and set his sights on the lead two, as Kuhl began to fade into the clutches of Sammons for the lead.

The leaders had backed up to Danny Bouc, playing right into his hands.

“We setup for this thing to go caution free,” Bouc explained. “We were starting as far forward as we have all year, so I thought if it went caution free, we’d be in good shape.”

Bouc grabbed the lead, going two-for-one at the completion of lap 19, and led the final 12 laps to pick up the win and reclaim the point lead with just two races remaining in the championship.

Frenchtown, N.J.’s Billy Pauch Jr. made a late race charge after being stalled out early to come home second, and Phillipsburg, N.J.’s Jack Butler got his best finish of the season, rounding out the podium.

Ringoes, N.J.’s Ryan Godown came home fourth, now sitting six points behind Bouc for the point lead, and Bryan Kuhl also got his best run of the season, finishing fifth.

Finishing sixth through 10th, respectively, were Davey Sammons; East Greenbush, N.Y.’s David Schilling; Sayreville, N.J.’s Dominick Buffalino; Montgomery, N.J.’s Justin Grosso; and Montgomery, N.J.’s Brandon Grosso.

Martinsville, N.J.’s John McClelland picked up a crowd-pleasing win with the Swagger Factory Apparel Crate Sportsman in the Mr. Crate Classic, bagging a $1,500 payday.

The win came after Pilesgrove Township, N.J.’s Ethan Bill came up four pounds light across the scales, after crossing the finish line first.

McClelland, who started 15th, was making his first start of the year, after retiring following the 2023 season.

Affectionately known as ‘Johnny Mac,’ McClelland stepped into a Matt Ellery backup car and took it to Victory Lane.

Conveniently enough, Ellery ran second, taking the full $500 bonus back home, which came from Ellery’s Pub & Grill, paying first and second an extra $250 each.

Cream Ridge, N.J. natives Pat Wall and Ryan Simmons finished third and fourth and Jacksonville, N.J.’s Nick Van Wickle completing the top five.

The Oliver Communications Group One-on-One Match Races also took place on Saturday for the Swagger Factory Apparel Crate Sportsman, which were won by Ethan Bill.

John McClelland made his way into the match races by way of his fast time in the heat races, making him first up.

‘Johnny Mac’ rolled through Mike Toth, Ryan Heim and Glenn McIntyre before falling to Steve Davis.

Davis, after knocking off McClelland, bested David Miloszar, Nick Van Wickle and Ryan Simmons until Matt Ellery knocked off Davis.

Ellery was topped by Pat Wall, who appeared on his way to winning the finale, before catching a rut the wrong way going into turn three, causing him to lose control and allowing Ethan Bill to pick up the win.

Bill only had to run one Match Race, but it was all he needed to pick up the $500 from Oliver Communications Group.

Wall, N.J.’s Rob Ormsbee raced his way to his second Xtreme Diesel Performance (XDP) LLC., Street Stock win of the season. Ormsbee got to the lead from the fourth starting position on lap four and set sail with the win.

Ormsbee only gained four points on the point leader Pat Force, who finished second. Chris Lane, Scott Freed, and Chris Allen Sr. completed the top five.

Racing continues this Thursday, August 21 for the Short Track Super Series (STSS) ‘Dirty Jersey’. The STSS Modifieds go for 50 laps and a $6,000 top prize. Also on the card are the STSS Crate Sportsman, and Four Cylinders.
