A “Shower of Big Block Power” is ready to hit New York for the first time in 2026, as the Super DIRTcar Series prepares for two April stops in the “Empire State.”
First, drivers will battle in the Thunder in the Thousand Islands at Can-Am Speedway on Saturday, April 11. Then, the Beasts of the Northeast make their first trip to the state’s Capital Region at Albany-Saratoga Speedway for the 61st Season Opener on Friday, April 17.
Here’s a look at what’s coming up:
Can-Am Speedway | Thunder in the Thousand Islands (April 11)
April’s first stop marks a return to Northern New York for the Thunder in the Thousand Islands at Can-Am. It’s the first of two visits to the LaFargeville, NY facility in 2026, and part of Thunder in the Thousand Islands weekend, which also features the DIRTcar Sportsman Series East Region (April 11) and the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series (April 10).
In last year’s stop at Can-Am in September, Alex Yankowski held off a hard-charging Alex Payne in the closing laps to win the R.D. Hutchinson Memorial, helping clinch second-place in the season’s final standings.
