Once the action and carnage from the Legends and Bandoleros had come to an end on the 1/4-mile track, the crowd on hand was treated to some good clean high horsepower racing on the 5/8-mile high banks. Bryson Shaffer would start on the pole and quickly jump out to a sizeable lead over teammate Dylan Fetcho who started 3rd but quickly moved into the number 2 spot. Through the first seven laps there was plenty of side-by-side action throughout the field as the faster cars made their way forward. By 27 laps in, Fetcho would be pressured and passed by Dawson Sutton and Hunter Wright, with Wright moving to second, and eight laps later would take the lead.
Meanwhile Jackson Boone would be steadily making his way through the field as well and settle himself into second place by lap 52. Quinn Davis would spin in turn two on lap 55 to bring out the only caution of the 100-lap feature event and bunch of the field. On the restart Wright would keep the lead and not look back. Jackson Boone would trail closely as the two leaders would distance themselves from the rest of the field with around 30 laps to go. Dylan Fetcho would make his way back to third to land on the podium when the checkered flag waived.
After coming up just short of the victory two weeks ago, Wright was very happy to take the victory Saturday night and move to the top of the points standings.
“I felt like we had a really good long run car two weeks ago, and luckily that transferred over to this weekend, and we were able to get out front.”, said Wright. “I hope we can stay in the top two every race for the rest of the year, but the problem is, that’s everyone else’s goal too.”
In the Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers Super Trucks feature, John Burns would start on the pole and jump out to an early lead. He would not be challenged and go on to lead wire-to-wire to win the first race of the 2023 season.
Nashville Spring Series Legends Event
Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway played host to the final two rounds of the Nashville Spring Series on Saturday as well. Being a national event, there was certainly a lot of action and plenty of wrecks. The event featured two sets of seven races, three each for bandoleros and four each for the legends.
In the first features of the day for the bandoleros, winners were Gerald White III (Beginner Bandoleros), Landon Thrasher (Bandolero Bandits), and Jayden Johnson (Bandolero Outlaws). In the legends, Jackson Denton (Legends Young Lions), Michael Crafton (Legends Semi-Pro), Oliver Cordell (Legends Pro), and Wayne Grubb (Legends Masters) all saw themselves prking in victory lane. Cordell would win two of three Legends Pro races over the two days to be three of four to start the season at Fairgrounds Speedway.
The second and final round of bandolero races the winners were Case James (Beginner Bandoleros), Landon Thrasher (Bandolero Bandits), and Ben Morabito (Bandolero Outlaws). Local bandolero driver Landon Thrasher would also pick up the victory Friday night in the Bandits class to sweep all three races on the 1/4-mile oval, making him four for four on the season so far. In the final round of legends action, Jackson Denton (Legends Young Lions), Dylan Faulkner (Legends Semi-Pro), Corey Gordon (Legends Pro), and Kevin Rollins (Legends Masters) all came out on top.
Brexton Busch, son of NASCAR Cup Series legend Kyle Busch was in attendance racing his Bandolero in the Bandit division. His weekend did not go as planned as he did not finish two of his three races.
