WATERFORD – Kyle James has returned to weekly action and has been working with a newly formed team over the past few weeks. He launched from the pole position to set the pace until Anthony Flannery shot on by taking Eric Berndt with him. Berndt quickly took over the lead but Flannery would not be denied again. Berndt leveraged multiple attacks against Flannery over the course of the 35 lap main event trying both the inside and outside grooves with no success. After being denied on the final lap last time out, Flannery made sure it wouldn’t happen again, scoring his second win of the season.
After a lap 1 mishap the week before, Brody Monahan’s Late Model was out of commission. The team brought out a secondary car this week and immediately went on a mission. Defending champion Ray Christian III took charge of the race from the outside pole with Monahan and Jason Palmer hot on his tail. Monahan took command of the race for its’ entirety, even with a few caution flags slowing the pace. Christian who slipped into third kept fighting with Palmer for the runner up position, but a late race caution relegated him to a fourth place finish with Corey Fanning landed on the podium. Monahan’s win would be his first in the division, after an impressive Truck season.
The Street Stock race was owned by Al Stone III in the Norman number 12. Stone rocketed out to the lead while the battle commenced behind him for the rest of the field. Aaron Plemons who has been on a hot streak lately, ran his way to a comfortable second place finish. Shawn Gaedeke held off a tough Tony Macrino and Ed Gertsch Jr who got tied up in traffic. Stone now has one win in his #52 and one in the #12.
After a rough week last week, Tyler Chapman tried to make this night a redemption story in the SK Lights by getting out into the lead early. It was short lived however, as Zack Sangermano started to dominate the event. Nickolas Hovey made a quick 3 wide dash picking off a few positions, but then it was Evan Bourgeois that began running down Sangermano. With the two side by side, Sangermano dipped his rear tire out of bounds and spun drawing the yellow. On the next restart, calamity struck sending Hovey to the rear of the field and Jake Hines to the pits. With Bourgeois safely out front, Sami Anderson and Johnny O’Sullivan were putting on the heat for the runner up position. O’Sullivan launched by Anderson in the closing laps but Anderson was able to land herself on the podium.
Two time Truck champion Ken Cassidy Jr set fast time in practice last time out, but lost a transmission. This week he took off from his fourth place starting position to quicky pick off the front row, finding himself in the lead by lap 4. Brad Strickland who led the first three laps was under heavy pressure by both Cassidy and Kyle Gero. Cassidy set the standard in the race with Gero doing everything in his power and try to take down the win, but couldn’t complete any pass. Ed Ryan Jr. and Brody Monahan worked their way through the field to land themselves in the top 5. Cassidy’s win is his first since returning to competition, and first since 2021.
A healthy field of INEX Legend Cars took to the track with Dylan Cote rocketing off to a giant lead. The race would be slowed near the halfway point the caution flew giving Jase Mongeon a chance to strike. Mongeon quickly took down Cote for the top spot and ran off into his own zip code as Cote, Nick Bulkeley, Dylan Freeman, and Isaiah Newcomb battled for the rest of the podium. After an intense battle, Bulkeley wound up second with Newcomb landing in third.
Randy Cabral won the 30 lap NEMA Lite feature and John Zych Jr won the NEMA feature for the Gene Angelillo memorial.
