WATERFORD – From the drop of the green flag Kyle James and RJ Marcotte were the show in the 35 lap SK Modified® race. The seasoned vet and the young blood fought hard for the race lead swapping grooves and the lead nearly a half-dozen times, with a hungry Anthony Flannery and Todd Owen stuck in their tire tracks. Several caution flags flew in the early stages, but none of them broke up this intense battle for the top spot. With 13 to go, Marcotte and Owen would get hooked together and slide through the infield. James now had to hold off Flannery on the restart which proved to be the final nail in the coffin. Flannery would clear and run away from James, while Eric Berndt made an appearance breaking into second place. Another caution with 7 to go gave Owen the opportunity to land on the podium with Flannery scoring his fourth win of the season.
Fresh from a week off, the Street Stocks put on a show. Ed Gertsch Jr got off to the early lead but it was all Aaron Plemons from lap four to the finish. It wasn’t that easy however, as Al Stone III was on the attack for much of the race with Tony Macrino in the catbird seat. A caution with 6 to go gave Stone the opportunity to make a move, but Plemons nailed the restart and ran for cover leaving Stone and Macrino to battle it out. Stone was able to clear low as Macrino got shuffled back by a hard charging Corey Fanning. Plemons captured his third win of the season with Stone glued to his bumper for much of the race.
The tough Trucks had fans on the edge of their seat for their 25 lap feature event. Allen Coates took the lead early and set a good pace until Ed Ryan Jr took over. Point leader Brody Monahan made quick work of Ryan on the outside groove with father Shawn Monahan directly behind him. A left front flat would send Shawn backwards as Tyler Chapman worked his way forward until the caution flew with 7 to go. Brody would nail the next two restarts garnering a huge lead by turn 1 each time. The third caution came when points contender Bradley Strickland made heavy contact with the turn 1 wall. This time, Chapman was able to time the restart perfectly and take down Brody to score his second win of the season in four starts.
Nick Pappacoda took off to an early lead and tried to run away in the Mini Stocks, while Bill Sylvia was holding off some hungry contenders in the runner up spot. Jared Roy eventually worked by Sylvia after a long battle with Chris Garside and David Dorr going at it behind them. Roy was able to make quick work of Pappacoda once he caught up to his bumper and shot into the lead. Garside powered by Roy fairly easily with 5 to go, but Roy didn’t give up giving Garside an intense challenge for the lead and setting up for a near-photo finish, but ultimately coming up short in the green to checkered race.
At the drop of the green in the INEX Legend Cars, the front row didn’t make it much past turn 1 before disaster. When racing resumed, Dylan Freeman took control of the race where he would pace the field for 3 laps when Dylan Cote took over. Freeman had to hold off a strong Nick Bulkeley but couldn’t get the job done for the runner up spot. Cote seemingly had a clear shot at the win until lapped traffic came into play in the closing laps, but it wasn’t enough to stop him. Cote would win his fourth of the season, chipping away at the point lead with one race remaining.
