PORT ROYAL, PA – Pause and reset.

An extremely wet and unfavorable weekend forecast, with rain predicted from Friday evening through Sunday night, has prompted the Juniata County Agricultural Society and Port Royal Speedway promoter Steve O’Neal in conjunction with the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco to postpone the ‘Speed Showcase’ weekend.

The event will be contested March 14-16, 2024.

All reserved camping spots and car registrations will be maintained through the make-up date.

Ollie’s ‘Elite Series’ points, scheduled to conclude this weekend, will be decided in March 2024 at Port Royal. The Elite point fund will be distributed following the event.

Rent Equip/Party Central South Region points for the Modifieds and Belmont’s Garage South Region points for the Crate 602 Sportsman will be finalized on Oct. 27-28 at Del.’s Georgetown Speedway as scheduled.

“Looking at the weather pattern, we felt this decision would be the best for all involved parties,” STSS organizer Brett Deyo said. “Attempting to complete the entire event in a shortened manner is impossible financially and logistically, and even Friday night has been questionable with regards to rain.

“The fall schedule is already loaded with special events and Port Royal has a resurfacing project planned for late October which would prevent making up the ‘Speed Showcase’ this season.”

Port Royal promoter Steve O’Neal echoed the STSS statement.

“We look forward to welcoming the Modifieds to Port Royal every year,” O’Neal said. “It’s been a tough season on all Northeast tracks including ours, with special events postponed or cancelled by weather.

“Anticipating the conditions for this weekend and knowing the significance of one of three $50,000-to-win events for the Modified division, we all felt securing a spring make-up date would be in the best interest of the ‘Speed Showcase’ event and its future.”

A complete weekend schedule for March will be released during the off-season.

The STSS returns to action on Friday, Oct. 20 at N.Y.’s Orange County Fair Speedway with the ‘Hard Clay Finale’ for the River Valley Builders North Region finale for the STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds.
