VERNON, NY – It’s a Thursday night (July 18) title fight for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco.
Utica-Rome Speedway hosts the ‘Richie Evans Remembered 61’ featuring the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman in an open-wheel doubleheader.
STSS Modifieds race 61 laps for $6,100 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $610 to take the green flag, while STSS Crate 602 Sportsman earn $2,061 to win for 25 laps around the Home of Heroes.
The River Valley Builders North Region championship race rolls on with Event No. 6 with Stewart Friesen (Sprakers, N.Y.) and Mat Williamson (Saint Catherines, Ont.) in a dead tie for the point lead with 436 points each. Matt Sheppard (Savannah, N.Y.), Anthony Perrego of (Walden, N.Y.) and Jack Lehner (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) sit third through fifth, respectively.
Alex Yankowski (Covington Township, Pa.), Michael Maresca (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Mike Mahaney (Elizabethtown, N.Y.), Marc Johnson (Guilderland, N.Y.) and Chris Raabe (Alexandria, Ont.) complete the top 10.
In the Ollie’s Overall Championship title fight, Williamson holds a 34-point edge over Perrego.
In the Crate 602 Sportsman Madsen Overhead Doors North Region, South New Berlin, N.Y.’s Payton Talbot has built a 48-point lead over Lake Ariel, Pa.’s Tyler Peet. Blaine Klinger (Walton, N.Y.), Michael Ballestero (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and David Hackett (Lysander, N.Y.) complete the top five.

Gates open Thursday at 4 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:15 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $28 (Adults), $26 (Seniors ages 65 and up) and Kids 11 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $45 (Non-Members), $40 (Utica-Rome members), $10 Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 Children (ages 5 and under).
