50 LAP MODIFIED CHAMPIONSHIP PAYS $10,000 TO WIN PRESTIGIOUS EVENT

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – The Forrest Rogers Memorial, paying tribute to the founder of Grandview Speedway, is the next action packed race program on the schedule on Saturday night at the one-third-of-a-mile high banked speedway.

Since 1971, Grandview Speedway management has been paying tribute to Forrest Rogers, the man who had the dream of building his own racetrack, then made the dream come true when he opened the track and hosted his first ever race event in August of 1963.

The Forrest Rogers Memorial race also serves as the anniversary celebration each year for the Speedway, as Forrest Rogers himself held the first ever extra distance race in track history in August of 1964, a 40-lap event won by Marty Acker, celebrating the track’s first birthday.

After the untimely death of Forrest, son Bruce took control of the speedway and in 1971 created the Memorial race to honor his Father on the same weekend his Father honored the Speedway’s anniversary, thus holding the first ever Forrest Rogers Memorial.

This Saturday, August 10, will feature the much anticipated 54th annual Forrest Rogers Memorial for the T.P. Trailer Modifieds who will be racing for 50-laps and $10,000 to win. This race program will also include the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman in another NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series double-header starting at 7:30 pm.

Adult grandstand admission is $30, students 10-15 with ID are $15, while children ages 9 and under are admitted free of charge. Pit admission is $35 for NASCAR members and $45 for non-members.

Pit gates will open at 4 pm. with grandstand gates opening at 5:30 pm. warm-ups starting at 6:15 pm. and the first race of the evening getting the green flag at 7:30 pm.

This Saturday night prior to the racing program will be the Low Down and Dirty meet and greet hosted by Whippy and Jennifer Umbenhauer. The drivers scheduled to participate will include the Hirthler family of drivers with Kevin, Brian, and Jesse Hirthler on hand with their cars prior to the start of the race program.

The pre-race Meet and Greet is held in the main gate area from 5-6 pm and is a great time for fans to meet the drivers up close, collect some autographs, take photos, and talk racing with their favorite drivers before the night’s program gets underway.

Saturday’s program will be the final in a series of race events recorded and produced by ATVN-TV. The Astound TV Network (ATVN) will be recording the race events on Saturday, with the race event broadcast to be shown on a tape-delayed basis. The heat races will be a complete program shown on the following Tuesday night at 7:30 pm. The features will air the following Friday evening at 7 pm. with further replays to follow.

Looking back at past winners for the Forrest Rogers Memorial who are currently active, last year’s winner Craig Von Dohren is the driver who has more wins than any other driver in the prestigious event, having won the Forrest Rogers Memorial ten times (1986, 2001, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2023).

Ray Swinehart has four Forrest Rogers Memorial wins (1988, 1996, 2005 2018), Duane Howard scored three wins (2010, 2013, 2019), Jeff Strunk won twice (1990, 2000), while defending track champion Brett Kressley won two events (2020, 2022).

Drivers with a single Forrest Rogers Memorial win who are currently in action include Jon Kellner (2004) and Kevin Hirthler (2012).

The amazing fact heading into this year’s 50-lap championship feature, is that of those drivers listed, only Brett Kressley has been to victory lane so far this season, so the others will be looking to break into the winner’s circle for the first time this year, and what better time to do it than in this high profile and high paying race program.

T.P. Trailer Modified feature winners so far this year have been Brett Kressley (5), Louden Reimert (3), Mike Mahaney, John Willman, Bobby Trapper Jr., Nate Brinker, and Cody Manmiller. Eric Kormann and Doug Manmiller have also recorded wins during Thunder on the Hill series action.

These drivers will be in action this Saturday looking for the win along with about three dozen drivers who all will be hoping to put their name on the list of winners in the Forrest Rogers Memorial.

The T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman will also be in action with a full program, and it has been a super competitive year with eleven different drivers reaching the winner’s circle so far.

The division is led by point leader Logan Watt and Gavyn Krupp who have two wins each, followed by drivers with one win each including Kenny Bock, Brian Hirthler, Mark Kemmerer, Jesse Landis, Addison Meitzler, Colton Perry, Zach Steffey, Jared LaBagh, and the most recent winner Dylan Swinehart.

All of these drivers will be in action along with over three dozen total drivers on Saturday night looking to see if they can score another win or join the list of 2024 feature winners at Grandview Speedway.
