Back At It: Utica-Rome Speedway Set for Sept. 20-21 Empire State Showdown

VERNON, NY – Back at it.

For the first time since Labor Day Monday, racing resumes at Utica-Rome Speedway this weekend: Friday-Saturday Sept. 20-21 with the Empire State Showdown.

Taylor’s Trailers Crate 602 Sportsman are in the spotlight for the inaugural Empire State Showdown event, competing for a $2,400 top prize on Saturday (Sept. 21), with $500 reserved for 10th-place and $250 to start.

The weekend kicks off on Friday (Sept. 20) with Fastline Performance Limited Sportsman competing in a 20-lap main offering a guaranteed starting position in Saturday’s Crate 602 Sportsman headliner.

A winner-take-all, 20-lap Non-Winners’ Race for Crate 602 Sportsman is on the Friday docket with $300 going to the winner and a guaranteed Saturday starting berth. This is open to any driver without a Utica-Rome Speedway Crate 602 Sportsman win this season.

Practice laps will be granted for Crate 602 Sportsman with a pair of Saturday redraw positions up for grabs.

SCDRA Four Cylinders will be in competition offering a $300 winner’s share and $150 to the first Single Cam with $50 to start in a 15-lap main.

Allstar and Junior Slingshots complete the Friday program.

On Saturday (Sept. 21), a 50-lap event awaits the Crate 602 Sportsman following timed hot laps and qualifying action.

Also competing on Saturday are the SCDRA Four Cylinders (20 laps, $500 to win, $150 guaranteed Single Cam winner, $50 to start) plus the Allstar and Junior Slingshots.
