Latest points update after Williams Grove

Keep up with the chase for the 2024 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car championship.

LATEST RACES: Williams Grove Speedway (Oct. 4-5).

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Consistency continues to lead David Gravel toward his first World of Outlaws title. The Big Game Motorsports No. 2 had finishes of eighth and sixth during the National Open, making it 53 top 10s in 59 starts this year, to maintain the point lead.

CLOSING THE GAP:

Carson Macedo (2nd): It was near disaster in the National Open prelim for Carson Macedo and Jason Johnson Racing as they needed a provisional to make the main event. But they managed to salvage the night as Macedo wheeled from 25th to 12th, finishing only four spots behind championship leader Gravel. The next night Macedo scored his second National Open title and cut Gravel’s advantage down to 86 points with eight races to go.

Sheldon Haudenschild (6th): The prelim saw Sheldon Haudenschild make his way from 22nd to 14th before finishing a close runner-up in the finale. Those two results combined with a tough weekend for Giovanni Scelzi allowed Haudenschild to go from 116 markers behind fifth down to 52.
