As the crisp fall air hits Central New York, the Super DIRTcar Series prepares for its biggest race of 2024.
The “Beasts of the Northeast” roll into Oswego Speedway for Super DIRT Week 52 Oct. 7-12, highlighted by the Billy Whittaker Cars 200.
Kicking off the week for the Super DIRTcar Series is Practice and Qualifying on Thursday, Oct. 10, locking the top six drivers into the Feature. Then, the Series will run three 25-lap Qualifiers on Thursday night, helping set the field for Saturday’s finale.
After two Last Chance Showdowns to start the action on Saturday, Oct. 12, “Racing’s Biggest Party” culminates with the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 paying $52,000-to-win.

Here’s a look at What to Watch for at Super DIRT Week 52:
The Chase For 4: The two drivers chasing the 2024 Super DIRTcar Series championship are chasing the same piece of history at Super DIRT Week 52.
If either Matt Sheppard or Mat Williamson wins the Billy Whittaker Cars 200, they’ll become the fifth driver to win the race four times, joining Brett Hearn, Billy Decker, Gary Balough, and Stewart Friesen.
Williamson is the defending Billy Whittaker Cars 200 winner and trails Sheppard by 27 points in the standings entering “Racing’s Biggest Party.”
The St. Catharines, ON driver has eight wins in 2024 after outdueling Sheppard during Malta Massive Weekend at Albany-Saratoga Speedway last month, and another would give him his 31st career Series victory.
He’s finished in the top two in the last four Billy Whittaker Cars 200, including three victories.
Sheppard’s consistency has kept him at the top of the standings in 2024, despite only having one points-paying win. The Waterloo, NY driver has eight consecutive Series top fives dating back to a fourth-place finish at Autodrome Drummond during King of the North and has only finished outside the top five twice in 2024.
“Super Matt” is chasing his 98th career Series victory at Oswego in a race where he’s scored three consecutive top fives.
Locked-In and Loaded: Williamson and Sheppard are also guaranteed starters at Super DIRT Week, along with Friesen and Jimmy Phelps.
Each earned their spots in Qualifiers throughout the Super DIRTcar Series season.
Friesen is chasing history of his own. The Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON driver is searching for his fifth Super DIRT Week victory, which would tie him with Hearn for the most all-time.
He hasn’t finished outside the top 10 at Oswego in his career but hasn’t reached Victory Lane since 2016.
However, in seven Super DIRTcar Series starts this season, he’s only finished off the podium once, including victories at Big Diamond and Weedsport Speedway.
After winning the SRI Performance and Stock Car Steel Award in 2023, Phelps is back at Oswego searching for his first Billy Whittaker Cars 200 victory. The “Baldwinsville Bandit” has come close to joining Big Block immortality, finishing on the podium in 2010, 2012, and 2015.
He has three top fives and four top 10s since the race moved to Oswego in 2016.
Mad Max’s Return: Current World of Outlaws Late Model Series rookie Max McLaughlin will return to Super DIRTcar Series action at Super DIRT Week 52.
The Mooresville, NC driver finished second to Williamson in last year’s Billy Whittaker Cars 200 after leading 19 laps.
“Mad Max” finished on the podium in his last two starts at Oswego, including a third in 2022.
A win at Super DIRT Week would be his first victory at “Racing’s Biggest Party” and his sixth Super DIRTcar Series win.
Timmer’s Time: Other than Sheppard and Williamson, no one has been more consistent in Super DIRTcar Series races of late than Tim Sears Jr.
The Hastings, NY driver is amid the best season of his career, with nine top fives and 11 top 10s in 15 races, including four consecutive top fives.
However, “Timmer” is trying to turn his luck around at Oswego, as his sixth place finish last year is his only top 10 at the “Clay Palace.”
Sears is holding on the third in the Series standings, 19 points ahead of Anthony Perrego.
Brave and the Bold: No one has knocked on the door of Victory Lane at Super DIRT Week more than Peter Britten since the event moved to Oswego in 2016.
The Brisbane, OLD driver has two Billy Whittaker Cars 200 podiums. The first was in 2017, when Sheppard passed him in the race’s final laps, and the other was in 2018.
He’s also been in position to win twice in the last three races. In 2021, he was spun by Tyler Dippel while leading the race, and last season he was running in the top three before a parts failure sidelined him with a 27th-place finish.
While he hasn’t won the Billy Whittaker Cars 200, he has found success at Oswego, winning the Salute to the Troops 150 in 2018.
