VERNON, NY – And then there were 17.
Management of Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, N.Y., announced on Christmas Day its plans to host an inaugural Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco event on Monday, Aug. 4.
The boxing-themed event – entitled ‘The Gloves are off 51’ by speedway promoter Tyler Bartlett – marks the debut of the STSS at the half-mile oval known as the Nasty Track of the North. Can-Am is the 17th track to sign on with the series in 2025.
“We’re very excited to work with Tyler (Bartlett) and the entire staff at Can-Am,” STSS promoter Brett Deyo said. “We have some ideas to work with the Watertown Boxing Club and make this event fun for the racers and fans.”
The Monday Can-Am event leads into Tuesday night’s (Aug. 5) ‘Summer Showdown on the Border’ at Mohawk International Raceway in Akwesasne, N.Y., setting up two paydays for teams traveling north.
The Can-Am event will be part of the series’ North Region for ’25, which kicks off on Tuesday, May 6 at N.Y.’s Accord Speedway.
Can-Am Speedway is located at 21047 NYS Route 411 LaFargeville, NY 13656. Call 315.876.3478, e-mail canamspeedway@gmail.com, like Can-Am Speedway on Facebook or visit www.racecanam.com to learn more.
The entire ’25 STSS schedule has been posted on the series website: https://www.shorttracksuperseries.com/schedules/2025
Note there were two changes from the originally announced schedule due to conflicting events: Kutztown, Pa.’s Action Track USA slides back one week from Tuesday, May 20 to Tuesday, May 27 and N.J.’s New Egypt Speedway is now Tuesday, June 24 (moved back one week from June 17).
The entire season of racing will be televised on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv).
