AFTON, NY – Back to the birthplace.
Afton Motorsports Park, the site of the inaugural Short Track SuperNationals and Brett Deyo promotion in 2006, will once again be the host of the “Working Man’s Race” in 2025.
On Thursday, promoter Ron Ford announced he had reached a three-year agreement with the Afton Fair Board to return to the facility located off Interstate 88 Exit 7. Ford makes a move to Saturday night racing on American Racer tires, facilitating the return of the Short Track SuperNationals.
The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco will take part in non-points-paying events at Afton Friday-Saturday Oct. 10-11.
STSS Sportsman will headline the Friday program, with STSS Modifieds taking the leading role on Saturday for the 16th annual event.
A complete weekend schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
“I promoted my first-ever event at Afton back in 2006 when I was 23 years old,” STSS founder Brett Deyo said. “The facility has always been a favorite for me, and I am looking forward to bringing the ‘Working Man’s Race’ back to its roots.”
The Afton Fairgrounds has hosted the SuperNationals on eight occasions: ’06, ’14-’17, ’19, ’21 and ’22.
Since its inception, the Short Track SuperNationals has taken place at four venues: Afton, Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, N.Y., Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y., and most recently Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y.
With the addition of Afton, the Short Track Super Series 12th anniversary season expands to 18 different tracks.
Afton Motorsports Park is located conveniently off I-88 Exit 7 at 46 East Main Street Afton, NY 13730. To learn more, like “Afton Motorsports Park” on Facebook or call Ron Ford at 607.624.3772.
