Several drivers have been DQ-ed for tire doping.
Random Tire Samples have been collected throughout the 40th annual Smiley’s Racing Product Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink, and sent for testing with five samples not conforming to benchmark.
As posted in the rules for the Tulsa Shootout, In all classes, tire samples will be taken and sent to be tested. Any doping of tires is illegal and will result in the disqualification and forfeiture of all purse money.
The following drivers are disqualified from the 2025 Tulsa Shootout:
Daniel Shaffer – Sample taken after Race 10 (Outlaw)
Jett Nunley – Sample taken after Race 51(Outlaw NW)
Shawn Whitney – Sample taken after Race 96 (A-Class)
More samples are being tested. Findings will be reported once provided to the Tulsa Shootout.
All samples were taken in the designated Tech Area as soon as the race was completed and cars cleared the scales. Samples were taken using the respective team’s tire groover and witnessed by team members. All samples were placed into a vile and then put into a numbered evidence bag. Each sample, including the date it was taken, race number, tire compound, tire serial number, evidence bag number, official’s initials, and a team representative’s signature.
With January 1 being a holiday, samples were priority overnighted on Thursday, January 2, to Blue Ridge Race Lab, LLC, located in Lenoir, NC and delivered on January 3. Samples were check in duplicate for verification of findings.
The 40th annual Smiley’s Racing Product Tula Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink concludes on Saturday, January 4 at the SageNet Center at Expo Square.
