(Minersville, PA 5-30-25) This coming Tuesday evening, June 3, Big Diamond Speedway is proud to present the “Anthracite Assault” for the SuperDIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds along with the Red White and Blue Autos Inc., Roadrunners.

Big Diamond Speedway has always been a staple for Northeast dirt Modifieds, hosting some of the best weekly action seen throughout the region and on Tuesday race fans will have the opportunity to see some of the finest competitors in the business with the time-honored touring group clashing against a number of track steadies in a 75-lap/$7500-to-win feature contest.

Over the past few seasons, the SuperDIRTcar Series has become a must-see event on the yearly Big Diamond Speedway calendar and this year’s race will be no different.

Heading into Tuesday’s action there is a very tight point battle taking place and leading the way is a former Big Diamond Speedway champion and winner Alex Yankowski of Covington Township, Pa. Yankowski was the 2018 Sportsman division champion, winning six times that year and he then collected four feature wins when he advanced into the headline 358 Modifieds including the prestigious Jack Rich Inc., Coal Cracker in 2021.

Nipping at his heels, however, is two-time and defending SuperDIRTcar Series champion Mat Williamson who is only three points behind. Alex Payne sits third in the standings just 10 markers back of leader Yankowski with former Big Diamond Speedway winner Erik Rudolph and Justin Haers fourth and fifth, respectively.

Last year Stewart Friesen won the Anthracite Assault, which was his first victory here in 13 years, beating Anthony Perrigo and multi-time champion Matt Sheppard.

Sheppard and Friesen will be chasing SuperDIRTcar Series history also. After winning the recent “Natural 77” at Thunder Mountain Speedway, Sheppard is one win away from becoming the second driver in Super DIRTcar Series history to earn 100 Series wins. Sheppard has four wins at Big Diamond, including two Anthracite Assault wins (2019 and 2022) and a Coal Cracker victory in 2014.

Friesen is also in pursuit of a milestone win. The Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON driver will reach 50 Series victories with his next triumph, a feat only accomplished by five other drivers.

And while all the stars of the SuperDIRTcar Series will be vying for the win and championship points, they’ll have to also deal with track regulars such as 9-time champion and 93-time winner Duane Howard along with recent winners Louden Reimert and Rick Laubach plus Logan Watt and Ken Eckert Jr., who are all very capable of taking the win.

These are just an inkling of the star-studded field of Modified wheelmen that will be converging on Jake and Jasmin Smulley’s 3/8-mile dirt oval.

The always thrilling and exciting Red White and Blue Roadrunners will be in action also in a 20-lap feature.

Grandstands and pit gates open at 4:00 pm. Hot laps begin at 6:45 pm with racing to follow. Adult general admission is $35, kids ages 6-11 are $10 and kids under 6 are free. Pit admission is $45 per person.
