NEW EGYPT, NJ – Welcome Home.

On the day where he made it official that he will return to New Egypt Speedway (NES) on Saturday nights in 2025, Frenchtown, N.J.’s Billy Pauch Jr. picked up his first win at the D-shaped oval of the year.

The reigning Bridgeport (N.J.) Motorsports Park Modified Champion made his presence known in the ’25 title fight at NES.

“I can promise you one thing, there’s a lot of good cars here,” Pauch Jr. proclaimed. “There’s three of us though that are gonna make it a heck of a battle and I have a lot of respect for both of them.”

Pauch Jr. used a late race restart to slip by Vineland, N.J.’s Anthony Tramontana with just three laps to go and pulled away with the victory.

“I saw him (Tramontana) getting that flat under yellow and tried to signal to him,” Pauch Jr. explained. “I don’t blame him for not pulling off, I wouldn’t have either… he’s going to win races this year.”

The win for the ‘Kid’s Kid’ was the 37th of his New Egypt Speedway career, good for third all-time, and cemented his status as a full-timer in 2025.

Pauch Jr. came from the 13th starting spot, closing in on the lead duo with just five laps remaining as Tramontana and Lawrenceville, N.J.’s Wade Hendrickson were battling in thick lap traffic.

Pauch Jr. slid by Hendrickson just before the race’s final caution flag flew with just three laps to go.

With Tramontana fading due to the slow leaking right rear tire, Pauch Jr. seized the opportunity on the restart, taking the lead and racing away from fellow hard charger Danny Bouc.

Bouc never got close enough in the final laps to offer Pauch Jr. a challenge, putting the ‘Kid’s Kid’ back in New Egypt Speedway victory lane.

“We’ve been spot on this year,” Pauch exclaimed. “It took a little time for everything to come together but this was the best car I’ve had in four years here.”

Pipersville, Pa.’s Danny Bouc followed up his win two weeks ago with a runner-up, maintaining the top spot in the Modified standings. Wade Hendrickson completed the podium, making a rare New Egypt Speedway appearance in the Rio Brothers R10 machine.

Ringoes, N.J.’s Ryan Godown rebounded from an early bad restart to come home fourth and Schnecksville, Pa.’s Tanner Van Doren completed the top five, after going to the tail as a result of being involved in the race’s first yellow flag.

Finishing sixth through tenth, respectively, were Flemington, N.J.’s Bryan Kuhl; Hamilton, N.J.’s Johnny Bangs; Trenton, N.J.’s Davey Sammons, who was also a part of the caution with Van Doren; New Egypt, N.J.’s Joseph Brown; and New Gretna, N.J.’s Paul Mancini.

Heat winners were Bouc, Pauch Jr., and Hendrickson.

In Swagger Factory Apparel Crate Sportsman action, it was another reigning Bridgeport Champion emerging victorious, as Pilesgrove Township, N.J.’s Ethan Bill took home his first career New Egypt Speedway victory.

Bill raced his way to second when, under yellow, leader Ryan Maher pulled off the track, forfeiting the lead to Bill.

Bill never looked back after the lap eight fortune, racing his way to the win and staking his claim as a threat for the ’25 title at NES.

Matt Ellery, Steve Davis, Nick Van Wickle, and Pat Wall completed the top five.

Robbinsville, N.J.’s Eric Degler led all 15 laps of the Four Cylinder main event, winning by over seven seconds for his first win of the season.

Bob Drayton, Robby Dunn, Kyle Hurley, and Jim Avery rounded out the top five.

Bordentown, N.J.’s Aiden Spencer claimed his first Fastline Performance Rookie feature win over Hunter Ploski and Chris Bergstrom.

Racing continues next Saturday, May 31 with Scout Night. Kids in Scout uniforms will be eligible for giveaways and prizes. The Modifieds headline the night of racing, joined by the Swagger Factory Apparel Crate Sportsman, Xtreme Diesel Performance, LLC.
