Many people ask, why start racing in March? Some years, Mother Nature cooperates and 2025 has been one of those years at Bridgeport.

“The last three seasons have been rough in March and April. It has either been cold and windy or wet and damp. This year, we’ve been blessed,” said Bridgeport track owner Doug Rose. “We’re 6 for 8 so far, and the weather has been fantastic for every event we’ve run.”

Last weekend was no exception. Despite the threat of rain, the temperatures were in the 70’s Bridgeport managed to race and made memories along the way. Two drivers earned their first career victories: Ronnie Solomon in the ICE LESS Sportsman and Dan Leaper in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint Cars.

“Without our hard-working track crew and a little optimism, those wins wouldn’t have happened,” Rose added.

Compared to last year when only three events had been completed by this point, all barely reaching the 60s at night this spring has been a welcome change. With temperatures expected to reach the 70s again this weekend, the momentum shall continue.

Bridgeport offers something truly unique to race fans, Modified and Sprint Car racing nearly every week. No other track in the tri-state area offers both divisions on a nearly weekly basis. Alongside these exciting divisions Bridgeport offers a stellar field of Sportsman Modifieds and additional secondary divisions 4 Cylinder Stock Cars and Street Stocks.

“We’re looking forward to a great 2025,” said Rose. “The talent in our Modified and Sportsman divisions is second to none. It feels like a touring series each and every week at Bridgeport — and we’re just getting started.”

Looking ahead, Bridgeport is set for an exciting stretch. It starts next Saturday, May 10, fans can catch a Pull-Off Productions Tractor and Truck Pull for the first time ever at the Speedway followed by Auto Racing on Sunday, featuring Winged & Wingless Sprint Cars and Sportsman Modifieds.

Saturday’s action starts at 6:30 PM, and Sunday’s event begins at 5:30 PM. For further information check out Bridgeport Motorsports Park or on Facebook Bridgeport Speedway.
