NEW EGYPT, NJ – Title Defense.

The 2025 New Egypt Speedway championship chase finally kicked off on Saturday, May 3, with Ringoes, N.J.’s Ryan Godown beginning his title defense with a dominant win on John Blewett Inc. Night.

The ‘Ringoes Rocket’ started on the pole of the 30-lap affair and never faced a serious challenge for the top spot, cruising to his first win of the season.

The win was the 61st of Godown’s New Egypt Speedway Modified career.

“We don’t get to start on the pole very often,” Godown laughed. “We’ve struggled a little bit at some racetracks so it’s nice to have it all come together tonight.”

While Godown was racing out front, the action for spots behind him in the top 10 was hot and heavy.

Pipersville, Pa.’s Danny Bouc, who started third, controlled the runner-up spot for large portions of the race while trying to reel in Godown.

Bouc did, however, face challenges in the second half of the race from New Gretna, N.J.’s Paul Mancini.

The duo went side-by-side on several restarts, but Bouc never relinquished the spot and kept pace with Godown on the final green flag run.

“When you start next to Danny Bouc that many times you have to be on your game,” Godown explained. “He’s always fast and I knew he’d be ready to pounce if I made a mistake.”

The battle for third and fourth, just shy of the halfway point, was a good one as well.

Frenchtown, N.J.’s Billy Pauch Jr. had charged from sixth to third in opening 11 laps after slipping by Trenton, N.J.’s Davey Sammons for the final podium spot.

Sammons, however, wasn’t ready to give up the spot without a fight. Sammons drove it into turn three and slid up into Pauch Jr. causing the No. 1 to spin. Sammons was sent to the rear for the contact.

In the end, Godown cruised to the victory with Bouc and Mancini completing the podium finishers.

After an up and down feature, Schnecksville, Pa.’s Tanner Van Doren came home fourth and Middletown, N.Y.’s Corey Cormier completed the top five.

Finishing sixth through tenth, respectively, were Phillipsburg, N.J.’s Jack Butler; Neshanic Station, N.J.’s Matt Stangle; Hopewell, N.J.’s D.J. Hunt; Neshanic Station, N.J.’s Ryan Krachun; and Upper Black Eddy, Pa.’s Jim Housworth completed the top ten.

Twenty-four Modifieds signed in for competition at the D-shaped oval.

Heat winners were Van Doren, Dominick Buffalino, and Anthony Tramontana.

A massive thirty-eight Swagger Factory Apparel Crate Sportsman contended for the season opening win.

In the end, a pair of Cream Ridge, N.J. natives put on the race of the night for the win. Pat Wall and defending champion Ryan Simmons battled side-by-side for over 15 laps contending for the top spot.

Wall was rim-riding around the top side while Simmons kept rolling the bottom groove looking to slip by Wall.

In the final five laps, Bedminster, N.J.’s Mike Butler joined the fray after starting 12th. Butler and Simmons traded the runner-up spot a couple of times, which gave Wall just enough space between himself and the pair to hang on for the victory.

Butler got around Simmons on the final lap to claim second, with Simmons rounding out     the podium.

Cream Ridge, N.J.’s Steve Davis came home fourth and Jacksonville, N.J.’s Nick Van Wickle completed the top five.

Wall, N.J.’s Rob Ormsbee raced from the sixth starting position to claim the opening night with the Xtreme Diesel Performance, LLC. Street Stocks.

Ormsbee wasted no time from the drop of the green flag, racing into fourth on the opening lap, to second by the end of lap two, and then got by Milford, N.J.’s Kory Fleming for the lead on lap three.

Fleming claimed the runner-up spot with Darren Cox, Spider Ensinger Jr., and Patrick Force completing the top five.

The Northeast Wingless Sprints concluded the night, ripping around the top side for 25 laps with New Egypt, N.J.’s Shea Wills emerging victorious from the third starting spot.

Mick D’Agostino, Stan Ploski, Heidi Hedin, and Ron Pavia concluded the top five.

Hunter Ploski claimed the win for the Fastline Performance Rookies, getting Aiden Spencer around the halfway mark and pulling away for the win.

Racing continues this coming Saturday, May 10, with Ladies Night at New Egypt Speedway in honor of Mother’s Day.
