(Minersville, PA 7-12-25) There’s something to be said about the days when convertible cars were seen about taking a drive on a nice summer evening. These types of automobiles may be few and far between on the roads these days, however, if you’re a fan of dirt track racing and Big Diamond Speedway then you’re in for a treat.
In what has become a yearly fan-appealing event, the 3/8-mile Schuylkill County dirt oval will be hosting the popular “Topless Night” this coming Friday evening, July 15. All three Modifieds classes, the Quandel Concrete 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Inc., 602 Crate Modifieds and the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Modifieds will all be in action and minus the roofs of their cars.
And even though they are not exactly convertible cars they are just as cool looking, nonetheless. It gives fans a whole different perception with a clear view of drivers inside the cockpit. And for the racers it presents a unique and slightly different element in their driving styles.
The 358 Modifieds will be vying for an excellent payday, with $7000 going to the winner of the 30-lap feature. The 602 Crate Mod winner will be picking up a cool $1000 at the payout window after their 20-lap affair.
They will be another $1000 winner also in the Red White and Blue Autos Inc., Roadrunners main event, which is a 20-lap distance.
Friday’s pit gates open at 5:00 pm and grandstands at 5:30. Hot laps start at 7:15 followed by qualifying heats. Adult general admission is $28, kids under 16 are free. Pits are $35 for members and $45 for non-members.
Coming up on Friday, July 25, will be Foran’s Transmission & Auto Repair Night. All regular track classes will be racing plus the Pro4 Series will be in action.
