AFTON, NY – Bringing the “action” back to Afton.
On Sunday, Aug. 31, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco invades Afton Motorsports Park for the return of the ‘Afton Action 50’ special.
The “Labor Day eve” special features the HYTORC of New York Modified North Region in a 50-lap, $5,050-to-win, $1,000-for-10th, $500-to-start program at the Afton Fairgrounds oval.
A gigantic fireworks display will light up the Afton skies as part of the program.
The ‘Afton Action 50’ marks the second STSS event of the 2025 campaign at the Ron Ford-promoted oval.
On July 16, the series ended an absence of nearly three years with the ‘Interstate 88 Special’ won by Matt Sheppard of Savannah, N.Y., over Alex Yankowski, Stewart Friesen, Danny Creeden and Anthony Perrego.
Sheppard currently leads the $15,000 STSS Modified HYTORC of New York North Region standings over Quebec’s David Hebert.

Joining the STSS Modifieds at Afton are the track’s weekly divisions: Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Factory Stocks, 600 Modifieds and Four Cylinders.
