(Butler Township, Pa. 8-5-25) This coming Sunday, August 10, Evergreen Raceway will be presenting the “Pap” 55B Memorial for Street Stocks along with the Tour Type Modifieds, Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders, McNulty Funeral Homes Novices and the JuiceBox Division.

The “Pap” Memorial race holds a special place for members of the Buchman and Sones families. It is tribute to their patriarch, Gordon Buchman Sr., who passed away last year at this same time while attending the races and cheering on his two grandsons, Gordie Buchman and Brian Sones.

For all those who knew him they would tell you what amazing individual who was and the backbone of a tight-knit family of racers. He is behind a legacy of lasting memories by his son, Gordon, son-in-law Ken Sones, grandchildren Brian, Gordie and Ella and his daughter-in-law Tiffany Buchman, who have all made a mark on the history of Evergreen Raceway.

And not to mention so many others who he had helped along the way.

This race is a celebration of a man who may be gone but never forgotten.

In his honor the Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks will run a 55-lap feature. The 55 was synonymous with the Buchman/Sones team. The winner will receive $1055 plus additional money will be disbursed throughout the field all thanks to the family and promoter Jason Makarewicz.

It is also a “show-up” points event which is being done in an effort to encourage other Street Stockers to come out and take part in this wonderful event.

To date, Gordie Buchman has scored two wins thus far in the Street Stocks while single event winners include Ken Erney III, Eric Kocher and Thomas Flanagan.

Matt Hirschman was the winner of the Tour Type Modified feature here on July 13, a race that went caution free for the 50-lap distance. That same day Gavin Higgins notched his career first Novice win.

The JuiceBox Division will hit the track during intermission.

Adult grandstand admission is a very reasonable $15 and $13 for seniors. Kids 12 and under are admitted free.

Pits will open at 10:30 am. Pit admission is $40 per person. Warm-up will begin with racing at 12:30 with racing beginning at 2:00 pm.

Evergreen Raceway is located at 183 Mill Mountain Road, St. Johns, Pa. News and information can be found on the official Evergreen Raceway website at https://www.evergreenracewaypark.com/ or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/evergreenraceway
