Steuer & Radivoy Are Crowned 2025 Champions
Cale Ross raced to his fourth win of the season in the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature, using an early race move to advance from his ninth place start into the lead. Ross won the race but it was seventh place finisher, Dillon Steuer who was crowned as the 2025 Champion – his first in Big Block Modifieds.
Stan Ploski III raced to his second win of the season in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints while Thomas Radivoy’s third place finish gave the Middletown, NY driver his first ever track championship.
Jesse Hirthler raced by point leader, Joe Toth on lap sixteen to earn his second feature win of the season in the Ice Less 602 Sportsman feature. Mike Hughes raced to his eleventh win of the season in the Insta Signs Plus Street Stocks. The champions in these two divisions will be crowned this coming Saturday as Toth and Hughes lead the way going into the final race.
Brian Papiez led the Modifieds from the start as Ross raced from ninth to second on the first lap. “It’s all about opportunity,” Ross explained later. “The holes opened up early.” It was a move just like this that Ross saw Steuer make earlier this season and wondered how did he do that. Now he knows.
The race for the lead was intense. Papiez led through lap five with Ross in the lead on lap six. Papiez was back in front on lap seven and led through lap ten but Ross never let up. Every lap was high pressure for the lead. When Ross took the lead on lap eleven, it marked the final lead change of the race and Ross promptly pulled away from the field. Ross led Papiez, Roger Manning, Neal Williams and Coleby Frye at halfway.
A restart with six laps to go saw Williams move up to second as Papiez lost several positions.
Ross led the way to the checkered over Williams, Frye, Papiez and Manning. Ryan Krachun finished sixth followed by Dillon Steuer, Sam Martz, Mike Lisowski and Sammy Martz, Jr.
Stan Ploski III took the lead from the start and led every lap to capture his second Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint feature of the season. Ploski was able to distance himself from the field in the twenty lap feature that ran non-stop from green to checkered. JR Fulper made his way to second by Thomas Radivoy with just two laps to go. Jonathan Swanson finished fourth with Wayne Scott rounding out the top five.
Joe Toth made his way to the front of the field, racing with Craig Pellegrini for the lead just before halfway. Pelligrini led the first thirteen laps with Toth going to the point on lap fourteen. Pelligrini would draw a caution flag at that point in the race and head to the pits to change a flat tire.
Jesse Hirthler moved into second on that restart and immediately challenged Toth for the lead. Toth led the field through lap fifteen but Hirthler was out in front and pulling away on lap sixteen.
Hirthler led the way to the checkered over Toth, Brad Roberts, Luke Bunting and Jim Wyers. Matt Peck finished sixth followed by Jax Yohn, Charley Cossaboone, Brian Rogers and Pelligrini who rebounded to finish in the top ten.
Mike Hughes put in a dominating performance to win his eleventh Street Stock victory. It was a very happy defending track champion who finished second. Nick Sandone III and team have struggled with their 2025 car from the beginning of the season. Sandone had his best race to finish second over Gary Bozowski, Kevin Heckman and Scott Freed.
Hughes is on his way to the track title this weekend. It will be his second of the season as he was previously crowned as the DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookie Champion.
