Riverhead, NY Sept. 6th.
Forecasts for a wet weekend on Long Island became reality Saturday forcing NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour officials and Riverhead Raceway management to rest the Eddie Partridge 256 WMT program to Saturday October 4th. With the forecasted rain predicted to hit right in the middle of WMT practice and or qualifying Saturday and lasting into Sunday the decision to move the event back a month was made early Saturday morning.
The Eddie Partridge 256, complete with infield pitting will become the first ever WMT event run at Riverhead Raceway in October. The Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modifieds, Blunderbusts, INEX Legend Race Cars and Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars will complement the 256. The 2025 championship point season for the Crates, Blunderbusts and Legend was originally slated to conclude September 27th, but now will finish up October 4th.
Riverhead Raceway GM John Ellwood did announce some minor schedule adjustments brought forth in part by the wet weekend. This Saturday the Cecil Palm Tree 66 continues the 2025 Crown Jewel Series for the Ted Christopher Cup with Ellwood revealing the pit walls will remain up for the 66. With that disclosure, the TK Figure Eight and 4/6-Cylinder Demolition Derby set for this Saturday September 13th move back one week to September 20th. The Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars will move up one week from September 20th to September 13th.
Another potential weather effected scheduling issue was addressed. In the event the Championship Saturday program for the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series is lost to weather Saturday September 27th, it will shift to the next afternoon, Sunday September 28th. If that turn of events plays out, the Championship Sunday event set for the 28th would shift to Saturday October 18th.
Ellwood also announced the Street Stocks have be added to the Islip 300 program Saturday November 15th competing in a 40-lap feature. He also noted some schedules might show a 8-Cylinder Enduro for the Islip 300 program, that is a typo, there is no Enduro event planned that afternoon.
Saturday’s Cecil Palm Tree 66 NASCAR Modified event is a celebration of the racing life of Eddie Partridge who poured his heart and soul into Modified racing and Riverhead Raceway after purchasing it in 2015. The Super Pro Trucks, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars will complement the September 13th program.
