NEW EGYPT, NJ – First Timer.

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars returned to New Egypt Speedway for the first time since 2017 on Friday, October 10.

California Kid Carson Macedo led all 30-laps of the main event on his way to the victory in his first appearance at the tricky D-shaped oval.

“It’s awesome to see this great crowd here,” Macedo exclaimed. “I feel like there’s a lot of new fans here seeing some of us race for the first time.”

Macedo occupied the outside of the front row alongside Pennsylvania native Logan Schuchart.

The pair raced side-by-side at the exit of turn two, before Macedo’s momentum carried him around Schuchart and to the lead in the opening laps.

“I knew that start was going to be critical,” Macedo explained. “I just sent it up top as hard as I could and it stuck and I was able to get around him.”

Schuchart, racing in honor of his late, great car owner Bobby Allen, chased Macedo for the top spot into lap traffic.

The traffic slowed Macedo’s progress, but never enough for Schuchart to make a move for the lead.

“I knew (Schuchart) was all over me in traffic,” Macedo stated. “I saw him once getting into turn three but I didn’t feel like there was a lot more I could do (to hold Schuchart off).”

Despite the challenges, Macedo never slipped enough for Schuchart to seize the opportunity, scooting away with the win in the late stages.

Schuchart settled for an emotional runner-up finish.

“I talked to him (Bobby Allen) throughout the race,” Schuchart stated. “I know he was there helping me, I’m just glad to put it on the podium with my mind in so many other places.”

Connecticut native David Gravel completed the podium, a former competitor at neighboring Wall (N.J.) Stadium and the 2017 winner with the World of Outlaws at New Egypt Speedway.

“When the best six cars start up front it can be hard to pass,” Gravel explained. “I’m just glad we were able to pass some cars in the Dash, hopefully I can draw better for that going forward.

Penngrove, Cal.’s Buddy Kofoid and Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild completed the top five.

Finishing sixth through tenth, respectively, were Sikeston, Miss. Hunter Schuerenberg, who started 21st; Canada’s Skylar Gee; Lemoore, Cal.’s Cole Macedo; Vincetown, N.J.’s Justin Whittall; and Visalia, Cal.’s Cory Eliason.

In USAC East Coast action, it was Deptford, N.J.’s Christian Bruno racing from the third starting position on his way to his first career New Egypt Speedway victory.

Bruno wasted no time, getting to the lead on the opening lap and leading all 25 laps of the main event.

Ed Aikin, Kenny Miller III, Ronald Helmick, and Joe Kata completed the top five.

Racing concludes at New Egypt Speedway on Fri.-Sat., Oct. 24-25 for the ‘Pinewood Showdown’ weekend. The Swagger Factory Apparel Crate Sportsman take center stage on Saturday, with a 50-lap, $4,000 top prize up for grabs.
