SOONER OR LATER IT HAD TO HAPPEN – ON AND OFF RAIN THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND EVENING RESULTS IN SATURDAY RACE PROGRAM CANCELLATION FOR GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – With outstanding weather, including temps in the seventies and low eighties, and sunshine for the first three weeks of the new racing season, April showers have finally arrived forcing the cancellation of the racing program for Saturday, April 25 at Grandview Speedway.
With rain in the Berks County region in the morning hours already, more rain was forecast to move into the area throughout the afternoon and into the evening hours, leaving no chance to hold racing action on Saturday night.
This was the first rain out of the year at Grandview, an exact opposite of last year which saw the Speedway only complete one event during the month of April due to unsettled weather.
Attention now turns to Saturday, May 2 for another program of racing under the NASCAR Local Racing Series Powered by O’Reilly Auto Parts banner for the T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Modifieds and the T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Sportsman plus the Keystone Sports Compact Series who are sponsored by Hoffman Speed Supplies/Hoffman Discount Parts in New Tripoli, Pa.
There will be qualifying races leading up to the 30-lap T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Modified, 25-lap T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Sportsman, and 25-lap Keystone Sport Compact Series Four Cylinder feature events.
Race time on Saturday night will move to 6:30 pm. Pit gates open at 3:30 pm, grandstand gates open at 4:30 pm, followed by warm-ups at 5:30 pm.
Grandstand admission for adults is $20, students 10-15 with ID are $10, while children ages 9 and under are admitted free. Pit admission is $35 for NASCAR members, and $45 for non-members.
The second special event of the season for the T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Modifieds will follow on Saturday, May 9, with the presentation of TWIN 25-LAP MODIFIED FEATURES! This program will be Checkered Flag Fan Club night and include the usual slate of qualifying events leading into the twin features, plus a full show for the T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Sportsman.
For the May 9 program, grandstand admission for adults is $25, students 10-15 with ID are $10, while children ages 9 and under are admitted free. Pit admission is $35 for NASCAR members, and $45 for non-members.
Advance tickets for the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series opener featuring the Kyle Larson/Brad Sweet Interstate Batteries High Limit 410 Sprint Car Series on Tuesday, May 19 (rain date May 20) can be ordered now at HIGHLIMITRACING.COM. This event is presented by Levan Machine & Truck Equipment and RICH MAR Florist.
On Tuesday, May 19, grandstand gates will open at 4:30 pm for Advance ticket holders, with general admission tickets going on sale at 5 pm at the main entrance. Following opening ceremonies, heat race qualifying will take the green flag at 7:35 pm.
Since the 1960’s, Grandview Speedway has been presenting exciting wheel to wheel NASCAR stock car racing every Saturday Night starting in April and running through October, plus special events.
