Lehighton, Pennsylvania (April 6, 2026) – Race of Champions Modified Series competitors are preparing to kick off the 2026 season at Mahoning Valley Speedway—and fans are just as eager.

If opening day at the tight 1/4-mile facility is any indication of what’s ahead, then Saturday, April 18 at 6:00pm is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated start times on the 2026 calendar.

Last season, Austin Beers of Northampton, PA, delivered one of the most memorable performances of the year—charging from last to first to win at his “home track.” It was a remarkable drive that showcased both patience and precision on one of the most unique short tracks in the region.

“Anything can happen at Mahoning,” explained Beers. “The track has multiple grooves, and because of its size, it really levels the playing field. You have to have a good-handling car, but you also need to be patient and drive precisely to get the job done. It’s a lot of fun for the driver, and because of the size of the track, the fans can see everything.”

Beers went on to have the best season of his young career in 2025, capturing the NASCAR Modified Series championship, and is also the 2021 Race of Champions Modified Series titleholder.

He will lead a strong contingent of Race of Champions Modified Series competitors into the season opener. They will be joined by the Race of Champions FOAR SCORE Four Cylinder Dash Series, making its first-ever appearance at Mahoning Valley Speedway.

Qualifying for the 75-lap Series opener will begin at 6:00pm on Saturday, April 18, alongside a full card of Mahoning Valley Speedway racing.

The event will also mark the Race of Champions Modified Series debut on FloRacing.
